trying to find Thai blade

Here are pictures of my Kosterized E-Nep, as promised. It has had a few year's worth of beating since Dan spruced it up. I'm not "nice" to my knives.

This is Mr Sei's shop that I bought mine too!

There is some little knives with carvings, told to be used by blackmagic master, that's why I did not buy.

JayGoliath, I remember passing by the shop you posted pics of, last time I was in JJ Market, didn't buy any blades from them. I did buy several blades from the shop that hunglvq mentions. It's in section 23 of the market. Picked some knives as well as dha swords from there, interesting little place!

I also came across similar knives with stamped ridges on the blade, chiruwa type handle. The ones I saw looks like to be stamped out of sheet stock, not hand forge.

Yeah, I saw those little knives in that shop as well as in others. In our Tibetan/Himalayan culture too we've gotta be careful about black magic stuff so I too stay away from such items.

Hi Jay, yes, that is one of several dha swords I got in my 2-3 visits to this store over several BKK trips.

Howard, I like that Kosterized e-nep you have, really neat!

I do agree Sta. Some of the amulets sold in Thailand are "untouchables". I've had very bad experience with it when i was small.

Resurrecting this old thread but since I first read it, I have been very intrigued by these E-nep knives. As it happens, my son's mother is Thai (I was married in Bangkok) and though we have been separated now for 11 years, we still maintain good relations for my son. She is still local here in CA (I have had my son more or less full time for 11 years now). Anyway, as it turns out she went back to Thailand for a visit at the end of last month and before she went I asked her to visit the Ayuttaya area and see if she could find a nice example of the E-nep knife for me.

Unfortunately, that part of Thailand is currently under water along with much of the rest of the north of the country... indeed much of south and southeast asia is under water these days, so she was not able to go right to the source to find an E-nep for me. Somewhere within the area she could get to, probably within Bangkok itself, she found some though. She sent me a pic from her I-phone.

Her email actually indicated that she had gotten 4 of them for me, but only three are in the picture. No idea as to quality... it would have been too difficult to try to explain to her what to look for. Anyway, these should be in my hands by the end of the month, if Customs doesn't throw her into jail for these when she goes through inspection on her return. Thankfully, she is a U.S. citizen now so that should help.

Beammeupscotty,

Thailand has been ravaged with floods lately and being a city lower than sea elevation Bangkok's trying very hard each year to avoid under-water.
One of the better made ones are in Uthai Thani but it's a place you need some company to go with. You might also want to consider Aranyik, the Seki city of Thailand.

Your friend should be fine, these knives are 100% legal under federal import guidelines. Just try to have some receipts to corroborate country of origin.

The knife on the far left is a post 2010 flood Genuine Aranyik E-nep Size 2. The one in the middle looks like a new evolution of Size 3, for some reason the sheath in the pic doesn't look like it fits. The one on the far right is a generic half tang compression at about 6" blade. I passed on those... still hesitant about "Kosterized E-neps" unless they are hammered 1/16" thin.
