Trying to talk myself out of a Sebenza

So, I want a new knife. (Another new knife) Recently picked up a ZT 0561, for my tactical folder when my attire allows a two knife system. But when I can only carry one, I prefer something in the area of 3 inches, and somewhat discreet, nothing to flashy. Especially at work. I really want a Small Sebenza 21. Really really want. But in no way, do I NEED one. I have spent the last 4 hours pouring over forums and websites, trying to find something to fulfill my desire and needs that just plain isnt as expensive as the Chris Reeve. And I have basically come up empty. Can anyone give me an idea of something thats of impecible quality, simple, but stylish, slim, and will fulfill my needs/desire for the time being. Or would you recommend I go ahead and buy the damn thing, get it over with, becuase i'm probably going to eventually anyways?

If you want it and afford it, then buy it. Cheaper alternatives in roughly the same size: Caly 3 or Mini griptilian.

Unless you get what you really want you'll regret it and still end up getting what you really want anyway. Save yourself the aggravation and money and get the Sebenza if that's what you really want.

They really are amazing knives. They make every other production knife feel like a toy that's been machined by a monkey. Almost everyday someone is selling a Sebenza on the for sale forum here and usually at a good price.

Sounds like you really want to try a small Sebenza. There's nothing wrong with that. If you can afford it, try it, like paltak said.

There is very little risk to the decision, so buy the Sebenza. At worst you'll realize like I did that it's not the knife for you, at which point you can easily sell it for only a very small loss.

As Nike used to say, just do it. ;)

I can't see myself ever buying one, not because of the price, but simply because they don't really interest me. Who cares though. Even before I read your last sentence I thought you should buy one, even if you have to save for it. I use to buy the cheaper option and I was always either miserable, resentful (of something that didn't deserve it) or I ended up wasting money by buying what I really wanted in the first place.

This is dead on correct.

I NEED my Sebenza. If I don't have a Seb on me I start having shaking fits, cotton-mouth, sneezing attacks, and heart palpitation. Weird, right?

You folks did not talk me out of it either. (As if you were trying). Thanks anyways :) I guess I'll find out soon whether I to have the sickness.

Funny thread! "Recommend me a knife. I want a Sm. Sebenza."
There IS nothing like a Sm. Sebenza! It alone can scratch that itch.

Sounds to me like it's in your shopping cart and you're about to press the checkout button.

Enjoy your new Seb!

Here's the problem, Medicburke. Whenever you want to compare a folder to the industry-standard, you invariably find yourself confronting the Sebenza. There's really no way around it. You simply won't know how good your folder is until you've got a Sebenza to compare it to. And you already seem to know that. So you might as well just buckle up and buy it.

By the way, if you want to go with the featherweight version, take a look at the Small Carbon Fiber Sebenza at Knifeart.com. They've got an exclusive on it. I just picked one up and it's perfect for EDC . . . at least it is for me.

Enjoy. :)

I looked at the knife(ugly), looked at the price(ridiculous), and that was all I needed to do to talk myself out of it.
