TSA compliant pocket "knife"

no need to feel sorry Boattale. I can certainly stand to fly without a knife feel. But I prefer it. In fact, I probably can stand not having 99% of stuff I own, like bacon. But I just prefer to have one.
Everybody would prefer to be able to fly with a knife.
Few ask for a substitute.

for anyone curious, I ended up getting a flashlight that is very close in shape/size of a pocket knife.

I have the same flashlight at work. Knives are now banned in the plant. I carry that light in my cargo pocket. I’ve had more than one manager approach me about it saying “you’re a leader and should be setting the example”. Meanwhile, I stare them in the face and slowly extract my flashlight…. Kinda fun. Plus, it’s been a dadgum good light. Easy controls, not like some that require long press, hold button, etc. I keep them on hand for my guys and so far, they are lasting. Them dudes can tear up a railroad iron with a rubber hammer.

I don't usually travel more than a few hundred miles and haven't flown in years. Still, I keep a few things handy on the off chance that I do or for other heavily restricted situation.

The Victorinox Jetsetter has already been mentioned. That's neat little tool that can hang out on your key ring or wherever. Another one was the "Travel Dime" version of the Gerber Dime but that one now seems to be discontinued. Both of those were made to accommodate travelers and onerous restrictions. Unfortunately, it really doesn't matter what the rule is because the TSA explicitly states: "The final decision rests with the TSA officer on whether an item is allowed through the checkpoint."

So a key benefit of the Jetsetter, besides being smaller and drawing less scrutiny than something like a Knifeless Rebar, is lower replacement cost. If some jerk of an officer swipes your Jetsetter, you're out like $20.

You might have luck carrying a tactical pen with no hidden blade, just a pen. It's all you need anyway.

There used to be a product that had a sharp pointed spike that deployed from a modified mechanical pencil. It was completly UTR in appearance until the spike was dropped down. Not much, but something. I got a couple and fooled around with them, but never tried to get one through to board a plane.

It was such a simple looking thing; I think that a pretty good substitute could be an easy DIY project.

I'd suggest a folding utility knife without a blade (which you can purchase at most convenience stores, gas stations, hardware stores, drug stores, etc.).
Something like this:

Hey ya'll. I'm looking to get a TSA compliant pocket "whatever" that feels like a pocket knife. Basically, I've been carrying pocket knives whenever I go out, and I immediately panic when I'm missing any of phone, wallet, or knife.. because I've carried them in same pocket. Every single time when I do not have a pocket knife because I have to fly, i hate the feeling.

So what I need is NOT something like Leatherman Style PS, or a Victorinox without cutting edge.
Because they DO NOT HAVE pocket clips.

What I need is something like this:
But the only thing is that.. it would be pockey and my front pocket would be ruined. So if something like that but in a format of a folding knife would be awesome.
Would anyone know of any product?
I have flown with this a number of times.

It solves problems when I'm on the road without a knife.

If you just don't give them anything to sink their teeth into: our day will always go much smoother!
