That sucks! I know you shouldn't have to, but send it back to Benchmade and they'll make it right.

That is shockingly bad. I've had off centered Benchmades, but not anything even close to that far off.

You can always loosen the handle screws, tighten the pivot. then hold the blade centered or shim it there and tighten the handle screws down again. If you're comfortable with that it usually works for me.

By the way I've had a very similar complaint from a friend of mine. His was with the limited edition of the 710. The blade was also not centered, and quite badly for that matter.

yeah, no idea whats going on. and i'm not gonna tear it apart and risk Benchmade refusing to warranty it.

oh well. waited this long, whats another couple weeks

Yowzah!

I'm not generally too picky about blade centering, but even I'd send that back in a heartbeat. :thumbdn:

Of the 2 I got, 1 was just like that. I did manage to fix it though. It is something that I kind of expect when buying this brand. Two 710s came the same way, three 556s, and one Rift which was the worst of them all. All were fixed very quickly with a little patience and a couple Torx drivers. This is still one terrific knife though, no doubt.

I have a gut feeling that blade centering can go off while the knife is being shipped due to the screws settling in their places and the scales/blade parts fitting together. I've also been able to make all of my knives perfectly centered with a little tweak here and there.

Just a hunch, maybe I'm nuts?

what he said i just had the same problem with an emerson i just got
did the samr thing thing and now its great

Hello SpartanSaint, my TSEK has the exact problem, only that the blade is off to the other side.

I tried loosening the handle screws and then adjusting the pivot screw many times, to no avail. Finally I loosened the pivot screw so that it came out altogether, manually holding the blade in the center position and then putting the pivot screw back again. To my relief, it worked.

You may try to see if it works for you. In my experience, correcting an off-centered blade takes quite a bit of trial and error (and patience, in my case).

It must be said though, other than this annoying problem the knife itself is sharp.

I have 302 of 400 and I guess I got lucky, cuz mine couldn't have been more perfect in every aspect:thumbup: Luck of the draw bro, I'd send'er back for sure... Benchmade will make it right!

Knives should not come that way from the factory.
