I thought I would take some pictures and show you one of the most common mistakes I have helped people with that have reached out to me in the facebook groups and in this forum.
It's like cudgee said all the systems have their different quirks, the K03 KME and any other system that's like the K03 will suffer from this same problem if you use an angel cube,I will also say that 777Edge is correct angel cube is the most accurate way to set your angel.
There is a TSProf group on facebook and if you email me at
wadenorton2008@yahoo.ca I can send you a link,I can't post it in this forum as they aren't a sponsor.
First with the K03 you'll set the angel cube on the same spot I have it and zero out the angel cube.
Next you'll put the angel cube on the guide rod and set your angel, mine is set at 15 degree's.
Now this is where a lot of people get themselves into problems,I didn't raise or lower the guide rod at all and as you can see the angel cube is turned on an angel and it's now reading 11.9 degree's.
When you set the angel you need to put the guide rod inline with the central shaft that the crossbar in mounted to then raise and lower the guide rod to set your angel.
If your using 1 clamp mounted to the side and sharpening a pocket knife for whatever reason then you I put the guide rod on the center of the knife between the tip and the heel and then raise and lower the guide rod to set my angel.
I don't bother doing this myself but I know some guys who take a bit of paint and put a line of paint on their angel cube on the end that's facing you when your adjusting your angel and then they always align he 2 lines of paint as it doesn't take much to throw you off 3 or 4 tenths of a degree.
