TSProf K03 Diamond Stones?

Thanks. Good advice for sure. Just wondering, is there a good TSProf forum?
I don't know if there is a specific forum, i don't thinks so, but i am only guessing. But plenty of clips on Youtube. Make sure you keep us updated when you receive it, interested in your opinion on both the sharpener and the stones and strop you got.

As for using WE stones, they are shorter and mounted to handles, so I'd have to demount them to even use them. I will be able to use the diamond emulsions and sprays however, so that'll be nice.
No thickness compensator, but I would highly recommend using an angle cube between stones on any system. I have a Kadet, K03 and a Blitz 360 and yes, the Kadet and Blitz has a way of using a thickness compensator but when I personally use any of them, I always check and adjust the angle with a cube when I swap any stone. It's by far the best and most accurate way.

If you really really wanted to have a stone thickness compensator, you could mount a drill stop collar on the K03 extended height adjuster, and measure stone thickness between that and the top of the ratchet gear body, but I would still recommend rather using an angle cube.

Regarding your WE stones, I was actually referring to mounting them on the K03 without disassembling them. You may just find that it holds them in place well enough just as they are. Yes, they will be very "thick" with the handle and all, but then just adjust the angle for the thickness. The K03 clamps stones very well and I wouldn't be surprised if it holds the WE stones - handle and all.

Give it a go and let us know. :)

Referring to my post above, what is the length of the Wicked Edge stone holders / handles? I don't have any, so I can't check them on my K03. If they are around 6 inches long, it should work!

N NorCalQ I thought I would take some pictures and show you one of the most common mistakes I have helped people with that have reached out to me in the facebook groups and in this forum.

It's like cudgee said all the systems have their different quirks, the K03 KME and any other system that's like the K03 will suffer from this same problem if you use an angel cube,I will also say that 777Edge is correct angel cube is the most accurate way to set your angel.

There is a TSProf group on facebook and if you email me at wadenorton2008@yahoo.ca I can send you a link,I can't post it in this forum as they aren't a sponsor.

First with the K03 you'll set the angel cube on the same spot I have it and zero out the angel cube.

Next you'll put the angel cube on the guide rod and set your angel, mine is set at 15 degree's.

Now this is where a lot of people get themselves into problems,I didn't raise or lower the guide rod at all and as you can see the angel cube is turned on an angel and it's now reading 11.9 degree's.

When you set the angel you need to put the guide rod inline with the central shaft that the crossbar in mounted to then raise and lower the guide rod to set your angel.
If your using 1 clamp mounted to the side and sharpening a pocket knife for whatever reason then you I put the guide rod on the center of the knife between the tip and the heel and then raise and lower the guide rod to set my angel.

I don't bother doing this myself but I know some guys who take a bit of paint and put a line of paint on their angel cube on the end that's facing you when your adjusting your angel and then they always align he 2 lines of paint as it doesn't take much to throw you off 3 or 4 tenths of a degree.

The length of the WE stones is 5 3/8" x 3/4". With handles they are 5 5/8" long. I can't see using them with handles attached, as they would likely be very top heavy.

With the length of the handles, there is a small chance it might just barely be long enough to work in the K03 clamp. If it clamps, then it should be secure enough not to cause problems...but that's if it is long enough. You'll have to give it a go when you receive your K03.

If you want to have other stone holders that will hold shorter stones, then you can have yourself a set of my "Leading Edge Sharpener" stone holders 3D printed. They work on the K03. No need to print any of the other parts, other than the stone holders if you want to use them on your K03.

The link to my free designs are below in the description of my posts (if you use a computer). If you're only using a mobile phone or tablet, then you might have to view this post in "desktop mode" to see my links.

When you have a set of my stone holders, you can clamp all shorter stones on your K03. The original K03 clamp is really just for approximately 6 inch + stones.
