TT Killa Zilla or FBM????

Recently ran into some deals. One for a TTKZ and another for an FBM , both deals are for around the same price:eek:.
I'm torn between the two and I can't really decide, I've heard that both are great choppers.
The KZ seems to be the better chopper but I feel that I could use the FBM for more than just chopping.
The khukri shape of the KZ seems to make using it for anything other than chopping(batoning, penetrating, etc.) awkward.
Can any of you fellow hogs share your experiences / opinions on these two beauties?

P.S.
Trust me, I'd buy both if I could :p

I don't own either but I'd think that the FBM makes more sense to buy. You can get a great khukri from HI (which also have great warranty) for a lot cheaper and find out if you even like using a khukri. Guaranteed you'll find the FBM useful in more situations.

I would say the FBM I have had both but I still have the FBM you can do smaller tasks as well as the big ones

It is a tough call and should be based on what you will use it for most.
Only looking for a really heavy beast of a chopper/zombie cleaver that you never plan to carry very far get the TTKZ.
Want something you can actually carry that will do great at many things, including chopping, FBM.
Either way, you will be impressed and good luck with the tough choice!

good advice all around.

FBM is the one I would choose

Fusion Battle Mistress

The CBT's bring it over the top. I miss them, bring back the CBT's!!!!!

Thanks for the tips guys.
I'm thinking of going with the zilla as a dedicated chopper, and carrying a SAR 6 for any other tasks.
Then again, the FBM is just plain sexy.
This is killing me.....

I had a FBMLE (with a convex edge and hand shaped micarta). It was a great user.

I have a KZII, little different handle and blade shape than the TTKZ (and, in my mind, improved grind/edge geometry). I did a polished convex on it as well.

I feel that the FBMLE tended to take nice deep bites, but to wedge, more so than the KZII.

Out of the choices you listed, I would definitely take the FBM. The thicnkess is just right for a knife you actually intend to carry around. The CBT's look awesome, and actually lighten it a bit.

If I get another mistress, it will probably be the FBM! (I miss the FBMLE).

I have the KZII for all out chopping and destroying, and the B11 for lighter packable utility chopping, so I have the best of both worlds.

I think the FBM is the best "hybrid" it is not the heaviest, or the lightest, but it has a decent heft, great chopping, and is still not too heavy (which is a relative thing).

Good luck.

For the same price, I would go with the TTKZ. You can always trade into a FBM if you don't like it. If you get the FBM first and don't like it, trading into the TTKZ would be harder IMO.

My TTKZ came with a very thick edge, such that it was not a very effective chopper. It had to go back to Garth for a reprofiling to be useful.

The CG FBM is just flat out a great all around useful knife.

I was in a similar predicament. You'll end up getting, and loving, both :)

what azwelke said

neither. get a FFBM or FBMLE :)

good luck-

Neither of those either. The MOAB trumps all. ;)

Seriously though, you can't go wrong with either. If you can get the TT KZ at the same price as the FBM, I'd pick that one up first and then start saving up for the FBM.

I'll tell her hi the next time I see her.:D I'd try and get her back for you but I don't think the owner will give her up. And he's not one to usually keep knives for very long.

I didn't see this before I posted. The correct answer! Very well said.

I usually can't answer the "if you could only have one" questions, but in this case I'd choose a CGFBM over a TTKZ with no hesitation. Personal choice and all that...but like Garth said, ya can't go wrong either way.

JMO for what it's worth. :)

The zilla can baton as well as anything, half the time you don't even need to, one well place chop will split the wood like an axe
