Oooohhhhhh, i love this juicy materials discussion! RussMo has some very valid points (i play around with steel too
), but there are lots of other variables to consider. I see no problems with the design for chopping or lets call it 'general purpose chopping' and see no real stress points to worry about in a blade design this size. The are no stress raisers, or, light to heavy areas (corners) so the energy/velocity (which is the speed of sound/vibration through a given metal) is evenly distributed around the edges. I could go into so much more detail, but its a whole other thread...
