TTKZ vs MOABOLO

Thanks for your input Resin!

I noticed the difference in the knives and have been trying to research more about the "TTKZ". Seems there are a few variances from blade to blade and also the handle shape. Notice the middle knife in the pic i posted has a different handle shape.

Geometry. Geometry. Geometry. Yup. Yup. Yup. It really is the bottom line. A question for your or anyone else that cares to answer; In your experience or knowledge, knives like the MOABOLO that were offered in both FFG and CBT - which version has/would likely have thinner edge geometry? Or is there no difference in geometry and the CBT is simply used to reduce weight?

Cheers

FFG MOABOLO should theoretically have a thinner edge, assuming the thickness is the same between the CBT and FFG.

If you can find someone to make the shoulders of the CBT version to be as thin As the FFG version --- I would go with that one. The reason being that the CBT versions weigh approximately half a pound more than the FFG.

When I reprofiled my TTKZ . . . It really did improve the geometry

Yea --- it seems from the reports that they weigh in anywhere between 38-40 oz. My old FFG with handshaped micarta scales weighed in at around 31-32 oz.

Huh, that's weird. Reading these two threads and the general consensus is "It's supposed to strengthen the blade and reduce overall weight while reducing the cutting friction along the entire height of the bevel."

Maybe CBT on a blade is heavier than a FFG but lighter than a Flat Saber grind would be?

I believe that the CBT is part of the machining process. It removes some material and requires less grinding at the shop for making a flat grind. That is what I have been told, but it was not from a Busse employee, so take it with a grain of salt. It does explain why a CBT Moabo weighs more than one with a flat grind though.

Wouldn't the BB13 check all the boxes and then some????

Otherwise go the kukri.

Mila jocksvitche (?)....... I'm just sayin....

Lawrie

Yeah it certainly does. I'm thinking BB13 instead of the MOABOLO, HUCK instead of the TTKZ...now i just gotta save up for a MOAB and i'm set to conquer the world lol

btw you lost me at "Mila jocksvitche" mate

oh, right :D:thumbup:
