All you really need to know is, that a piece 5 inches thick will harden all the way through when quenched in still air.

Yeah, it's very deep hardening. Unfortunately, it doesn't get very hard. Not good knife material. Although I've wondered about layering it with something like M4....

I'd kill for a 3 foot section of 5 inch square! Make a FANTASTIC anvil.

It's a pretty good hardness, but the shape isn't real versatile....

SWEET! I suspect it was part of a die casting setup? I was reading that was what H13 was initially designed for.

Actually, I think they (there's three pieces there) were used for rolling hot steel.
