Yeah right... whatever.

To me it was in good fun. (this was on a "Give Away" thread)
To the resident trolls it was not. (Who's melting down) or something like that.
I am accused of being some banned member incognito.
I would like to ask the owner of the thread if it offended him/them?

In reality, I came here to learn, and meet like minded people.

I did not (yet) pay to join, and I just want to go ON RECORD as a new member that was accused of TROLLING in a thread where I meant nothing but respect, and good humor.

Sorry if I hurt feelings or posted something that was inappropriate. (especially to the owner of the thread)

To have a MOD incite a witch hunt on a new (potentially paying) member is a bit of an oversight on what this forum is Supposed to be.

The underlying matter is kids playing on keyboards.
Look at any post from "zombie411".
I have approx. 30% likes on 300ish posts. (I suck at math soooo)
Do you really want to insult me? Push me out of your forum?
CryBaby?

I have a LOT to contribute, and potentially learn.
No biggie... Just saying' I had to bring this to the attention of the larger populous.

Let the trolls have fun. I have the worst of them on ignore.
If you see further posts from me, I assume this is OVER. If not? Over, and I don't have to pay. (even tho I'd rather join as a REAL member).

We'll see!
Thanks for reading....

What?
Best way to bring attention to a problem with a post is to copy & paste the URL. Then we can all go there and see what's up, without hunting all over for it.

Given the new software, I have to be really wide awake to find anything.

I think Zombie is just terribly confused over what he is doing to be honest (as are the rest of us). He seems to think that I somehow incited a certain group of people, because he is believed to be a returning member that was previously banned, I not any other moderators have any evidence to conclude he is or isn't at this point. I merely asked the members that were already discussing the topic by their own accord to provide me with evidence, and then I could take action that any moderator would (reban the user account and be done with it).

Zombie however, took it upon himself to make himself look like a mighty big fool by posting whatever the OP contains with a lack of any context, then providing to ramble on about his innocence, being here to learn and teach, ignoring trolls, etc. None of which connects the first part of his post to the second. If Esav can't make sense of the post and I have the utmost respect for Esav, then what the hell are the rest of us to do as far as conclusions to be drawn from that jumble of broken sentence fragments and half way thought out statements that as a whole, make little to no sense at all?

I'm reopening this discussion because I think there is some merit to it. No one gives a flying hoot about how many likes you have Zombie. The only one counting and somehow extrapolating quality with "likes" seems to be you. I have about 1000 likes, so does that make be 66.6% more likable than you? That is not a measure of the quality of your contribution here. It's a meaningless widget that comes with the software. Nothing more. Don't pat yourself on the back too hard just yet.

As I said before, if you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear. If you are indeed someone that in the past was banned, that means you do not get to come back with a new name and do the same of crap you did before. If that is the case, you will be banned again. I've caught some people sneaking back in over a dozen times, some even more. They always get caught, sooner or later.

Don't you catch them from the IP address?

Yes, but the software change was major, it's complicated. Also, people lose their passwords at times and just make new accounts, etc. Spark might have to look into things at some point, there is still a lingering issue with the login and people getting logged out.

Z Zombie411 if you don't understand why you got spanked, then you need to read more and post less.
This forum isn't about what you or I think what perceived "good fun" is, it's about a community of different people coming together to share a common interest which happens to be knives. If you don't take the time to learn the ebb and flow of how this place works, well, you won't be around long.
I'd be careful if I were you calling people trolls, it's something that's not taken very lightly here. Those same people in the thread you mentioned, make significant contributions to this forum.
Where I work at, they had a corporate lawyer come talk to us about political/racial language that is not acceptable practice and can get you fired in a heart beat. Some of the phrases we say every day are not appropriate things to say around different cultures of people. And where I work is considered a small organization. Nothing compared to the size of this forum that have people from all over the world participating.

BTW, I was typing this before you shut the thread down.

I appreciate you re- opening the thread Mr. RedDevil...
It's not about me tho.

It's about ANY new member and witch hunting.

I'm all for a good laugh, and blowing off steam in forums like W&C.
Personal attacks, and accusations leveled on persons on the net are common place. aka Trolling.
No big deal. I'm a grown man, and have thick enough skin to survive a forum.

However...
I feel that IF any moderator has suspicions that any member is somehow in violation of Forum protocol or rules... those suspicions should be addressed amongst the staff of the forum, and not placed into public threads. aka witch hunt.
As I said in broken thoughts, and partial sentences, this is not about me. It's a common courtesy to new members in general.

Before this thread turns into some sort of flame war I will step away, and leave this matter to the staff of BladeForums to determine how best to handle it.

As far as I was concerned, after a few courteous conversations with a couple staff members I was under the assumption that this was a done issue anyway.

No disrespect meant to anyone. If staff have any direct questions or concerns I am happy to discuss anything.

Thank you guys.
Ken

No witch hunt. Again, I simply stated that if someone had any proof they needed to bring it forward and then we could take action. My post is still there for anyone to read, nothing has been edited on my part. You keep reading way, way too much into a single statement. Use your ignore function for those that annoy you and just follow the rules. If you want to bring more attention to yourself, then you are doing a good job so far.

Just a thought as I have talked to Z Zombie411
Zombie411- Have you thought about sending RevDevil a pm directly?
I don't believe that any of the mods on BF mind getting PM's. Personal concerns included. We can solve alot of problems before they arise.
In this case, talking to staff may be a good idea how to conduct yourself or how to approach a situation, but taking the issue up directly with the person you feel has a problem is probably the best idea.
Personally speaking, if there was someone that had an issue with me, I would rather they send me a pm to let me know their concerns so we can discuss it.
To my knowledge, there is absolutely no mod that wouldn't prefer this over a public post.

Have always wondered why @Morrow has his custom "Don't make this weird" title.
Sometimes, time has a way of answering the strangest of questions.

Thank you gentlemen.
Mr. Ajack really said it best in his post above...
I'd be careful if I were you calling people trolls, it's something that's not taken very lightly here.

That is exactly what I was called, and infracted for. "Trolling" I believe the post I was infracted for would have stood ignored or laughed about (as was the intent) if not for some members looking to stir the pot on ASSUMPTIONS that I was a returning banned member.
I assure you that I am not. I think I would be too easy to spot with my personality, and writing style.

Mr. Devil, and I did PM, and as before I was assuming this was finished. I have no hurt bum or any reason to carry this on into more than it was.

I merely posted this thread to let the people that began this see the consequence of their actions.
It began with W&C steam, and exploded out into the general forums. There are now several staff members wasting their time, a new member with an infraction, and a group of W&C folks giggling...

Seems snowballs do get larger while rolling down hill.

Mr. Devil (if I may call you that sir) I am sorry for all the aggravation.
To all other staff the same sentiment carries to you.

To the members of this forum... Thank you for the warm receptions, insights, and overall great experience here so far.
Hopefully this is done.

It's not so much about who is doing the posting, but about where. If you troll outside the designated trolling areas, that earns an infraction.

I see a recurring pattern with new members that have conflicts with W&C regulars. If one of those regulars disagrees with the member in the knife discussion forum, it is perceived to be a continuation of that conflict, rather than a disagreement on the subject of knives.

It's not that complicated, really. Knife discussion areas are for discussing knives. Community areas are for discussing other subjects and friendly banter. All unfriendly banter should be kept to Whine and Cheese.

Seems like recently a lot of brand new members starting out on day one by going into W&C and calling out a fight with specific members or the group at large.

I've been on forums for Many years, and you sir are correct.
However that statement generally applies to forum newbies more than seasoned posters.
In this particular case... there was no animosity or disagreement from me toward anyone nor anyone toward me in the thread/post I was infracted for.
I simply found my user name mentioned in a W&C thread, found the post from mr. RedDevil that I quoted, "Find me anything, and he'll bounce". The next morning I had an infraction.

I never would have even cared that "they" had suspicions I was a returning member. Why would I?
I never would have cared that a Mod asked for "anything, and he'll bounce" until I was infracted.
Then it became a bread crumb trail...

Aren't we all idiots at some point in our lives?

100% correct.

All it takes are 2 taps on the screen.
1 on the avatar, 1 on ignore.
Bullsh*t averted.

You may have zero reason to read anything on that meltdown thread (W&C) but the "Ignore button" was put to good use. :D
Like Donnie Brasco would say... Fo-get abow eat!

Previously banned repeat offenders most likely.
The names have changed but the cadence of the verbiage has the same odor.

Yup! again... 100% Zebras can't change their stripes.

What is funny is that I wasn't the mod that initially wrote that infraction for this zombie guy, yet I catch all the shit for it. LOL! Can't win for losing.

Sir,
the fellas that began this got YOUR attention, and used your words to start this ball rolling.
Without your post in that thread we would not be dealing with any of this.
Yes sir there is trolling here but it was not from you or I. (except a political image from me as humor) I did not know that was a bad idea.
Mr. Devil, can we at this point simply agree that there is no point in flogging this any further.
If you still believe that I am someone else, I can do nothing about that but I can contribute, and learn here.
Let's chalk it up to "growing pains" and shake hands... well your avatar suggests that may be a bad idea so if you'll accept my apology... I'd be much happier.

Thanks,
Ken Mc
