Pretty much a blizzard right now up here in NE Illinois on Lake Michigan. It's been snowing lighter/heavier/lighter/blizzard.

The weather boys said it would probably swing south.

How bad are you guys down in Indiana getting it?

I'm in west cental illinois (macomb)
We got about 6 inches with 25 to 30 mile an hour winds.
and still snowing heavy at times. I'm hearing 15 inches about
45 miles east of me.
Stayed home from work going to go to the shop and work on a knife
hate it when that happens.

Yeah, life is tough sometimes. It's always terrible to be forced into the shop. LOL :)

That's a heckuva snow. The weather boys were right,we're on the light edge of it up here. Only about 7-8" in the last two days.

I went to college in Monmouth back in the early 70's. Spent a lot of time traveling that road to Macomb to visit friends at WIU. US67, IIRC? I bet that's a mess right about now with all the open flatland and the wind.

Enjoy your confinement. :)

I've only got about a foot on the ground here. Storm watch for the next day & a half. All the lake affect snow is about 2hrs. south. They've gotten 7-8 feet in a couple days!!! Any of you guys buried out there??

We're at about 8 inches of snow and now it switched to freezing rain down here in central ohio. Most counties south of us are under a level I or II alert. Lots of stuff closed today.
For some reason OSU decided to be the holdout and wouldn't cancel class when all the other colleges around here did, so I had to drive in for class this morning. Took about an hour to go 18 miles, and I missed being in a multiple car pileup by about 100 yards on I-70.
Then about an hour into class......the university closes for the day. So I drove back home, took about an hour and 20 minutes this time. Getting to where you have to stop and break the ice off your windshield wipers every couple miles.

Don't throw anything at me but I can see the grass and I wish I had a foot of snow!!! Maybe some snow tonight.

we're tolded it should start tomorrow here and go into the next day.. anywhere from 12" to 14" they are saying

heat wave though 0 deg F this morning :o

The rain hasn't stopped yet. Temp is down to about 20 now and supposed to keep dropping. Winter storm warning still supposed to go until 7:00 tomorrow morning, and our county is under a level I emergency now.
Hopefully the'll shut down campus again tomorrow while they clean all this up and I can just stay at work all day.

That is our last storm from last week. The next one is hitting here tonight through Thursday. It started sleeting about dark and we had some thunder and lightning. It has calmed down now for a bit, but we are supposed to have a winter storm warning for tonight and all day tomorrow. It should get up your way in a few days.

Lucky for us, it got warm for a few days in between. The last four or five days it has gotten up to about 60° and the snow here melted. It is not that way when you get up out of the valley.

Freezing rain in Plaistow....expect some power outage at some point today, but im at work in ipswich ATM

We're up to a level II emergency. Surounding counties a level III. They actually smartened up a little bit and closed campus :D
Time to go feed the horses and plow my way to work

just a dusting at my house-14-16" i guess its alot worse south east of me by my moms house-

so far it hasnt effected anything-just another day

Got a lot of rain then a lot of ice and then little snow here. Problem was the stuff kept freezing and the roads just got bad. Local schools systems closed yesterday and today. I work for one and they just told folks to stay home because road crews just couldnt keep up.

I guess I will just have to work on knives :)

I had to chuckle at your nonchalance, Rosconey. :) It's all relative, isn't it?

I have a friend down SE from Syracuse in a valley outside New Woodstock. He's been happy the big snows have gone north instead of south so far, but figured their day was due.

I'm a bit surprised it is still snowing here this morning. Long snows are not so frequent here, anymore. We got about 10" of new snow this storm, quite pretty. I have a doctor's visit in a couple hours, so I will enjoy one of my infrequent opportunities to put the Tahoe in 4x4 and powersled around some snowy corners here in the city. Hell, I might even find an abandoned parking lot and do some donuts!

I guess you can tell I don't get out much anymore. :D

Been awhile since I've seen it like this.

In my backwoods neighborhood (as backwoods as DC suburbs get), I have about 5 inches of a weird mixture of ice-like precipitation. I'm sure the Eskimos (Inuits) have a word for this. The top layer looks like snow, but seems composed of loose, small, irregular ice particles. You could hear it noisily raining down most of last night.

Very slippery...great for sleds!

I'm just a bit north and east of Kerry and we have roughly 9-10 new inches of snow so far this week.....but 2 feet in front of my front porch thanks to the wind.....
Just finished clearing the driveway for the 3rd time in 2 days....It's more than enough for me.....but the way you folks in western NY have up to 12 FEET of snow, makes me feel a bit of a sissy thinking of the less than a foot we have as being too much!
The worst part of all this stuff, for me, is they postponed the Indiana University/ Purdue basketball game from tonight until Thursday night....Now in this basketball crazed state, THAT is a concern!

I was disappointed, the roads cleared off and driving was boringly normal. :(

It cleared so fast here and turned sunny and bright I'm amazed. So much so that icicles are dripping and garages have snow sliding off the roofs in sheets.

I hope you folks out east get a break like this.
