Tuesday storm

started this morning here and still getting hammered
I think all of Maine was shut down this morning still have power though
the wind is a bear right now here.. I think I'll get my boots on and have some fun out side.. :D

We only got around 14" this morning, but the consistency of this stuff is unlike anything I've ever seen... kind of like sand. I have a pretty big frickin' snowblower (12HP) and I had to put it in crawl mode for the auger to keep up -- not like it couldn't throw it, but like it couldn't feed it into the impeller quickly enough.
Took me twice as long to do the driveway...

I know what you meen a few years ago we had a bad ice storm,, about 12" of sleet
the stuf was like plowing dry sugar or salt it went everywhere but where you were pushing it..:o

now...don't be mad...but I went outside and sat in the rain for about an hour around 5 :p it was great, but I know about shoveling snow, Kerry remember I think two winters ago when IN got all that snow and then it melted and flooded everything? I got to shovel a path about 200 yards long through it so that my grandpa who has to use a cane could get to all his stuff on his property

Yes I remember that mess. We have these weird, weather flips that make life interesting in the central midwest.

All in all, I enjoy having 4 distinct seasons where you can actually tell the difference between them. I lived in Greece for 2.5 years and got tired of sunshine. 300+ days of sunshine got old, if you can believe that. I longed for a misty Indiana rain.

I'm hanging in there for spring :)

Yesterday it rained all day. They said it would be nice today. I got up this morning and went out to the shop. It felt like a mild spring day. This afternoon my shop was 65 degrees. I had the forge going and all the doors open. I had to take off my shirt to cool off. What a nice break! Looks like more rain for several days in a row now.

It snowed/sleeted all day today. I plowed snow at the fairgrounds for 5 hours on a tractor with no cab. One of the tractos broke down and I had to bleed the fuel system just to get it running good enough to get in the barn.

The windshield wipers on my dads truck froze and one of the joints broke. They won't sell the plastic joint, you have to buy the whole wiper assembly. No parts until monday.
Dad has to use his other truck, its 2 wheel drive and was stuck in the driveway. Went to pull him out and my truck key came off the ring, lost in the snow. Going to have to go buy a spare.

I hate winter :grumpy:

I actually thought about mowing my lawn already. A couple of spots are looking a little high. My wife was out pulling weeds today, while I was grinding on some blades.

You suck....So does Ray.....so does winter :grumpy: ;)

Matt, Maybe its time for you to move out west. I know I couldn't handle winters like much of the US is having. I didn't mow my grass if that makes you feel better.

BTW: I just forged another blade and its still above 60 in the shop at 8pm......

Matt, if it's any consolation, temps were down about 0F last night here.

A water main blew down at the end of the block. The whole block from curb to curb was 6" deep in slushy ice all day long until they finally got things under control. They finally moved most of the ice onto the guys yard across the street  so now it's just sorta like a war zone of chunk ice out there.

Next week we'll have warming so all of us in the Midwest will turn into a mudfarm overnite and it'll suck in a different way. :(

Interesting winter after a slow start....

Yeah Ray, I'm starting to do the job hunting thing a little bit since I'm almost done with school and I'm thinking maybe I should send my resumes a little farther :D

Misery loves company Fitzo :)

All in all it wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for everything breaking down yesterday. 5 hours playing with a front end loader is 5 hours playing with a front end loader, I'd just rather be moving dirt than snow! On the bright side they claim we'll hit the mid 40's by the end of the week.

still snowing here-friggin lake effect-

i have 4 feet or so on my roof,i aint a roof shoveler-

I grew up in NE Ohio (round on the ends and high in the middle...OOOOOOOO HIIIIIIIIIII....OOOOOOOOO). I've had to shovel my roof a few times to make sure it didn't collapse from the excess weight, when I lived there. I definitely don't miss those days. Now, I spend that time mowing grass earlier and later in the year, and sneezing more, since I'm allergic to grass.
