Hi
I have just started to use a Tuf Cloth to protect the blade of my SV30 small sebbie, but it seems to take a very long time to dry. Any advice as to how long it should take? Also suggestions as to how often should I re-apply?
Tks

the cloth must have been really wet, but thats no problem.might take a few extra minutes to dry. you can lightly buff it or leave it along. i use the marine tuff cloth, would't use any thing else! i reapply about once every 2 months. it really all depends on how much you use it and the climate where you live. this is just my opinon....

I only reapply if I've use the blade for some serious cutting. Otherwise, one coating lasts indefinitely. I use the Marine Tuf-cloth for everything, and use Tuf-glide liquid for the pivots, along with a PTFE lube.

i've got a tuf cloth and a bottle of tuf glide so i can apply it to hard to reach parts. the odor is overpowering, make sure you work with a window open or outside. it really does a great job. I have a fairly old spydercard with a horrible sqeak to it. after rubbing it down with the tuf cloth and adding a few drops of tuf glide all the dirt that was causing the squeek has worked its way out of the pivot and left a nice reddish stain on the blade. another wipe with the tuf cloth i can now flick my spydercard. it's actually kind of scary now.

as for drying time i applied and went to bed so i can't really see how long it took. but i used it on a knife today and it dried in a few minutes.

I have a collection of coated blades, is the Tuf Cloth suitable to use on such blades?

heres the list:
ZT0400 - S30V Stainless Steel with Tungsten DLC
Adamas 275 - D2 Tool Steel with coating Cerakote™
Bob Lum Encounter - D2 Tool Steel with Black Teflon coated
Foresight - Acuto 440 with Black Ti-Nitride

Since the knife blades are coated, you should only be concerned about the edge rusting. But seeing as how even D2 has a high level of chromium, if you keep it dry and clean, you shouldn't have any issues. It wouldn't hurt to just wipe down the entire knife with a thin coating of the Tuf cloth just to make sure.
