Turkey knife

The 102 handle for me is small for rigorous work. I like the 117 small special for a better grasp but still a nice working size blade. I just wish there were a pro model in S35vn.
Otherwise I would go with the 105, a nice size handle and not to big of a blade for turkeys, probably about right .

I forgot to add that for 20 years I used a 110 Damascus stag and a 301 stockman for all of my hunting including deer, whitetail and muleys. They both did a great job out in the field along with a hatchet and saw. Once I got the carcass back home I would use my butcher knives to cut the meat up to go in the freezer. I later got a 192 Vanguard that is also a great knife especially for skinning. It really doesn’t take a big blade to do the field dressing, gutting and skinning. Usually a 3.5 - 4 inch blade is plenty for big game. I don’t know about moose or big brown bears if anything bigger is beneficial. I do know my nephew in Alaska uses a Buck 192 and a havalon knife for field dressing bull moose. I think my brother used a larger fixed blade custom knife similar to the 119 for moose in Alaska.

The 118 was on my list but it seemed close to the 102?

I would recommend the 102 or 118. The 118 is my original buck knife and still my favorite. I've dressed a bunch of deer with the 118 and a couple deer with the 102. If I was going after turkey I'd probably take the 102. I personally don't think the handle is too small. Dressing a turkey out certainly doesn't qualify as rigorous work. My dad dressed all of his deer out with a case mini finn (or it's precurser) which has a tiny handle. The 118 has a nice slim blade which makes it really nice for field dressing.

118 worked on dove today...

I will agree with what you say, the reason for my comment was that he mentioned in another thread that he was going to use it for deer as well and his main hunting knife. I’m sure there are some people that can use a small handle just fine but there are some who prefer a bit bigger handle. For me the 102 is small as a single knife set up if I come across tougher rigorous work. But that’s just me and my preference.

Totally agree :)

You just admitted to having a 102 in a different thread.
I guess that leaves the 105.....
Not my 102, nor will it be used by me. I had planned on restoring it for a family friend after her step father passed away. It was given to me by the step father when he was alive. Rainy day project I forgot about.
