Turkish Damascus

Here's a 250 - 300 year old Turkish Barrel I recently acquired...
Amazing to think about the maker and how they made it way back then...
And what "action" this barrel must have seen... the top of the barrel, where it was likely handled the most, is worn smooth but you can still see the beautiful patterns and welds on the bottom...
I'm deciding whether to carefully cut this in a spiral to salvage the damascus or just keep it as is...
Right now its just cool to study....

Keep it 'as is ' . Turkish and Arab rifle stocks are quite different from western ones and often highly decorated. You could have someone make a replica stock. Thanks for the photos !
 
Very interesting, I like it. As Mete said, keep it as is, good idea. That would be more valuable if you restored it as best as can be. I'm sure a lot of research will be needed to find the right period of history it comes from, and making the appropriate action, etc...

Again, very neat score. :thumbup:
