Got a 10x1 and 14x1 inbound. After trying it im.hooked. Anyone have any thoughts on how to turn a 4" diameter bader wheel that's 2" wide into a 1x4?

Was thinking of tracking belt off the wheel a bit and fixturing a lathe parting tool to take off the rubber 1/2" on either side and leave the alum hub alone. Ideally I would have a machine shop do it but now sure how the bearings are pressed into the hub is it similar to how kmg does?

I've tried lathe tools sandpaper, carbide end mills etc and can't find anything to cut rubber well. It's my understanding they make a special tool for this ... But there will be issues switching from the rubber to the aluminum hub I would imagine.

Leave bearing where they are .Use longer shaft with nut from both side with big and thick washers / big enough to touch the body of wheel , that way wheel can t spin on bearing / then put one side of shaft in lathe chuck another support with .... ??? All wheel I made for my grinder is finished that way ...wheel run out or out of round that way is 0.00000...............:)

C-clamp a razor blade to the side of a parting tool with enough edge sticking out to get through the rubber. Don't cut with the tip. Instead angle it down and cut with the edge.
