I'm not sure whether or not this is relevant to this thread, but it might interest some of you.

The latest crime figures for gun-free, peace-loving, law-abiding Britain were announced today. In the last 12 months, crimes of violence have risen by just under *twenty per cent*. The biggest increases have been in armed robbery and street mugging.

Twenty per cent, guys, in one year. Ain't that something.

On an old tomb in Italy there's a carving of a skeleton and the motto; "As I was, you are; as I am, you will be."

Go figure.

There is a court case in Canada (Toronto) where firearms turned in for destruction, were not destroyed but sold. I don’t know if the individuals involved were police or civilian contractors.

This is an interesting case of theft of MP-5's by the police and government. The police confiscated MP-5’s which were legally purchased. One owner found these in the possession of the police Emergency Response Team (same serial numbers). As far as I know the owner was not paid for the guns. Maybe he was able to collect in court.

I can’t remember which state or city it was in, but it was in the USA. There was a buy back program where you got a couple burger coupons for turning over firearms for destruction. Apparently a few old ladies brought in their husbands antique and very valuable firearms for destruction.

Canada seems to be a khukuri friendly country so feel free to send them to me for safe keeping and regular exercise.

I do have to admit you ran around with a much more morally upstanding bunch ( the workin' folks ) than the courthouse crooks I was assigned to interact with.

When it comes to pimps and judges, maybe you remember how the feds had the IRS "get" Mustang Ranch owner Joe Conforte, who turned over and squealed on Federal District Court Judge ( Vegas ) "Harry the Horse" Claiborne. Why a fed judge would have a name like Harry the Horse on the street the same way as Mafia "made men" I've no idea.

Anyway, with Joe's help, they nailed Harry, and both did the same prison time for the same federal felony ( tax evasion ) and both got out at the same time.

Joe Conforte tried to go back to running his business, but the licensing board ruled he didn't have the character to run a brothel. His wife had to take over for him.

Harry Claiborne went to the Nevada State Bar and begged for his license to practice law back. I guess standards for moral rectitude aren't as high for lawyers as they are for pimps. He got the license from the state bar.

I used to joke that a blue ( nah, make it Scarlet ) ribbon panel of pimps be selected to oversee congressional shenannigans, and that way, when they nailed a sleazoid political person, the Washington Post could headline the news with "Scarlet Pimp Panel Strikes Again" ( You do remember the Scarlet Pimpernel, don't you, Uncle?)

Oh, yeah. Remind me to tell you the story how a guy committed suicide out at Cave Rock by shooting himself in the back of the head with a 357. Twice. And the ( LEO title deleted ) of X county had the only 357 between Placerville California and Reno, Nevada at the time.

Just so I don't get misunderstood, far as I am concerned, this forum has *no* LEO's on it.

All of you here that I've heard sound like sworn "Officers of the Peace"/"Peace Officers" to me no matter what the badge you wear reads.

(If anyone is fuzzy on the difference between a Law Enforcement Officer, and an Officer sworn to maintain the Peace go rent a good Western.)

That sounds like a Clinton suicide to me.
Thank you for pointing out the difference between a Peace Officer and a Law Enforcement Officer. I regularly explain this difference to people and consider myself to be a Peace Officer. Yet I constantly use LEO on the web. I'll have to stop that.
 
Speaking of Clinton I can easily see how someone could double tap themselves in the back of the skull in a very obvious suicide if our very honest president wasn't having sex with that precious young innocent. It all seems honest, natural and above board to me.

I`m a peace officer.I too use LEO.I should watch that,and use proper titles.PO sounds like a parole officer,or a box.No future pun intended.

What was that place between Reno and CA?Wasn`t that The Mustang?I meant to stop for a beer, but never had the time.You could see it from I-80.


 
Mustang Ranch just east of Reno. Probably the wildest and most notorious of all Nevada's bordellos. Closed now. Joe Conforte in Brazil, I think, avoiding the IRS and others. There is a tiny community out there named Mustang, thus the name.

No, FNG, from the state district court judge, who was reputed to be the godfather of Nye county politics. William P. Beko, whose dad was, I believe, a union organizer for the mineworkers. Like I said, Bill got to know the working folks. I got to work with the wheelers and dealers round the courthouse.

The book "The Nye County Brothel Wars" was interesting. Who knows how much was true? I will tell you that it used to be that anyone with any smarts headed for Nye county would wear both front and back layers of a kevlar vest covering your back.

My oldest son just turned 43 and his youngest just got married, naw 50 ain't bad at all!!
I should have taken him, my son, to someplace like the Mustang when he was about 14. Then he could have learned earlier that he knew everything there was to know.(VBESEG)
