Turning 24

Thanks for the compliments. The third one down is a Queen copperhead with gold lip pearl scales. It was a limited production as indicated on the blade. I was lucky enough to find one on ebay and pick it up. They still make the pattern and I believe it is available in birdseye maple, zebrawood, mother of pearl, and paua shell, as well as amber carved stag bone. I am not sure all of those are still in production, but I think you can still find them all. Anyway the pattern number is 41.

If you are thinking about the red bone handled one, that is a Jeff Mutz canoe pattern. It is a custom and not a production knife. You question mentioned bone and the third one down has pearl scales, so that's why I'm confused.

It's hard to talk about traditional lockbacks without including the Buck 110. Here's one from the early 1980s. I sometimes used it while still in the U.S. Navy.

Happy Birthday Jesse! (Oh to be 24 again!)

WOW that's a beaut! I'd have to say that would be my perfect knife - bolsters at both ends, lanyard hole, Damascus, least not forget the stag. That's a great knife!

Happy 24th, Jesse, here's some single blade goodness.

Happy Birthday!

Thanks for sharing that Silver Knight photo. Those were the highest quality knives to ever carry the Gerber name, IMO. Congrats on such a nice set.

I totally agree with you and I really ought to take the time to get a group shot of the whole family. I really do like these knives and I do have a few.

Jeff, for me that is THE hottest knife I've seen on this forum for months! That includes all the customs too:thumbup:

Wish I could source one like that!

And Jesse, you are a young man so get on and make the most of it,NOW:D

I like the look of those swing guards Bob, does the actual guard wiggle about when open/closed?

When the blade is open on each of these, the guard is secured into place and doesn't wiggle much if any.

The variation between the three is what each guard does when the blade is closed, as in photo #1. The Canal Street has a lot of movement, the AG Russell / Boker has none, and the Case (lower picture) is sort of in between.

If you're interested in purchasing one, I highly recommend the AG Russell.

Thanks for the info Bob!

I'll post some photos soon. I also want to wish you a happy birthday. I'm 22 and glad to see another young one who likes traditional knives! :D
