Damn, I was hoping for the teenage mutant type, but, unfortunately, no nunchuku.

Cool picture though.

Great pic I love seeing stuff like that !

I have heard they make great eating as well !!!!!

When I was in the Boy Scouts we'd always try to catch our Scoutmaster a turtle. This was because he would make us turtle gumbo if we got him a big old snapper. They were pretty plentiful there, and I ate a few loggerheads in his gumbo. It was hell to clean, but dang, really a great meal.

Hard to tell at this angle, but probably sliders.

Are those Map turtles?

i am new to MS, I am used to red ear sliders and big loggerhead snappers. I have seen the ones in the photo about everywhere. I have caught a few soft shells on my trot lines as well. Not sure what kind of softshells they were, they had a digi type camo pattern on ther shells. The soft shells I am used to were a solid color. Sorry I have no pics of either, i will take some if i catch anymore.

Those look like red ears to me as well

I believe it's a red ear too. Most folks I know around here call em mud turtles. Are they good to eat also? I have only had snapper that I know of and it was just a bite.

Thank you for the kind comment bladefriendzy!
Mud turtles?
Most of the time:
Mud turtles are a generic term for a turtle closely related to a snapper. A more primitive turtle, these are also called stink pot turtles or musk turtles for their strong odor they emit when handled. They can give a mighty evil bite too, with mouthparts not unlike the snapper.

ahhh SOUP! NO!

They have a more oval and bowl shaped shell

unfortunatley, I'm a lover of turtles, not an eater. With that being said, I have seen some mighty tasty snapper before that I've taken off of the road. I know of a gullah speaking farmhand that makes a mean snapper soup.

do red ears or any others turn out the same way. NO. snapper taste like snapper, the rest taste like dirty socks, says Moses, the gentleman I mentioned above.

You guys have probably seen these pics I've shared before, but this is from a recent camping/fishing trip
