Short Tanto in NitroV and Ironwood

Hey there everybody! Here’s a new tanto I’ve finished. Maybe it should be guardless but I just can’t abide a smooth transition from under the handle to the edge, seems dangerous, so I added a “guardy” nub!

Steel is NitroV with professional HT at 60/61, 1/8” x 7/8” blade . Balances behind the front pin.

Hand sanded to 1500 grit for a reflective finish. The edge was about .010” before sharpening.

Dimensions: 9 3/4” OAL, Tip to Scales 5 3/8”

The handle is Ironwood with Turquoise G10 liners, center mosaic and stainless pins. It’s finished to 1200 grit, oiled and waxed.

The premium sheath says “Peace from Strength” in Kanji according to a few translators I checked including the regional communities subforum here at BF.

Hi JFK and Grady, thanks for your kind words. I had these pictured in my mind as maybe a his and hers deal. If you share your knife passion with your best girl maybe she'll look kindly upon your future acquisitions.

They are screaming sharp and would be right at home in the kitchen as well as the usual outdoors utilities. I call them short and medium but I've never made one called "long" yet. Maybe next time.
