The first is my small camp axe that I forged from 1 inch square 1085 high carbon steel. It is differentially heat treated with a hard edge that will need a stone to sharpen. The haft is from curly maple and is 14 1/2 inches long. The head is 6 1/4 inches long with a cutting edge of approximately 2 3/4 inches.
A simple leather edge cover is included.

This is a Viking style axe that I forged by wrapping mild steel over a high carbon bit that was properly heat treated. The ash haft is 16 1/4 inches long. The head is 5 inches long with a 3 inch cutting edge. Leather edge guard.
