First off I woust like to say that I am a big fan of the Becker line of knives. I only have one problem. That is two of my 5 favorite Becker knives that were produced by Cammillus are no longer avalible or produced.
I would like to see Kabar remake my two favorites. The BK1 Brute and the BK5 Magnum Camp. There is only 1 thing I wish they would change on the BK5 Magnum Camp, and that is to make the spine thickness on the blade the same as on all of the rest of the Becker line, around .250". I also hope they keep the same kydex style sheaths they last came in like they have done on the BK2. Here's to hopeing that they remake some of our old favorites.

a .25 inch thick magnum camp would be a terrible thing. as it is, it's a fantastic slicer. imho.

why would you want it so thick?

I also would love to get my hands on both of those two knives.
My brother has a Brute that I can borrow any time, but I've only
ever seen the Magnum Camp in pictures.
That would be the first one that I would like to see.
I'd buy the pair as soon as they came out....in fact, I'd probably
buy a couple of pairs...if you know what I mean!!!
Bring back the Brute and the Magnum Camp please Mr. Becker....

Cheers

well, ya know, they COULD do a magnum camp and/or variations ... i think they have the tooling possible to do a copy of the camillus version, or of course, variants :)

but for various reasons, i believe i've heard that they aren't interested in the brute. if 500 people write in, maybe! but well, strongly disinterested is the current stance if my understanding is correct.

and they don't have the tooling for something the size of the patrol machete, so that's out of the picture. fiskars makes something close, if you HAVE to have something like that.

MachAx is of course, a strong contender for resurrection :) oh yes, baby. one of those would certainly be a decent brute replacement, imho. perhaps better.

and naturally, new blades... i have something i'd like to see them make.

in the mean time, there's often quite a good supply of new in box camillus blades on ePray. magnum camps typically go for $100-150, and sometimes user brutes in that range too. though lately, some people are REALLY pushing the limits on buy it now prices ;)

I was just thinking along the lines that the blade shape makes it a great slicer. But the addition of some blade thickness going from .180" to .250" wouldn't change that on a blade with this much of a gracefully swept belly for slicing, but it would add a little more strength and weight to allow it to be able to do light chopping better. Making to a slightly better all around camp knife, by giving slightly more strenghth in the spine because it is the only knife in the Becker line except the necker, I believe, that has a full highth grind from spine back to edge. I hope I am just conveying my wish for a strong blade. It is just so graceful in its lines, I know they are great cutters but a little extra strength in the blade never hurts. I would rather that they Err'ed on the side of caution than ever see one break. If you know what I mean.:)

well, if it's thicker, it's going to lose the balance that makes it so outstanding as well. something has to give, right? so, it might get more forward balance, and perhaps chop better, but at a cost. doesn't QUITE seem worth the trade off for that graceful function it has now.

also, it's pretty substantial for that choppering. i don't recall anyone actually breaking one. bueller?

I'm With ya D_filgate, I would get at least 2 minimum of each. One or two to stash and one to use. You never know when they would quit making them again. And lord forbid that I only bought 1 then it broke, I think I would just die right in the spot. I just couldn't take it.:(

Hi Bladite,
The balance shouldn't change that much, since the whole knife from butt to tip would be thicker. It would have the same ballance points, blade to handle weight ratio. It would just mean that the overall weight of the knife would be heavier vs. the old model. I was Just suggesting making the whole knife .070" thicker. And as an added benifit, it just might be easier to convince Kabar to produce it if they don't have to use a special stock thickness, to prodece this one or two models of knife. It is just an added point that I was more than willing to concede, to be able to see one of my most favored knives to be back in production.

I'll tell ya I agree 500%+,
I'm also praying to the gods above, (and to cover all my bases) the Kabar gods. That Kabar, Mr. Ethan Becker and then to Paul Tsujimoto are listening to our pleas for a reintroduction of the BK1 & especially the BK5 into the Becker lineup.:)

The Magnum Camp is my all time favorite Becker. Mine cuts cane better than any machete that I own.

just saw a few magnum camps sell for between $100 and $145 ;)

quick, there's one on ePray for $$$$$$ ;)

The Brute and Magnum Camp have generated significant interest here, but as for me, I would ask why not the BK10 Crew? It has a similar profile to the BK9 although "stubbier", it's thinner than the oh, so heavy duty BK2(which I love) and seems to be an acknowledged ideal size for survival, EDC, Bug Out, etc. and has a pommel you could use for pounding like the 7 & 9.

Why no mention of this blade? Did I miss something?

Forum NOOB.....

I'm with you on the BK-10, I wished they would bring that one back .
