one side is auto and the other not? or is that just the side with the button showing??

Look closer at the top view, there are two buttons. Both blades are auto.

I like that little guy Steve.., beautiful delicate filework! What are those integral inserts?? Hard to tell in the picture...Ironwood?

The inlays are mammoth ivory. The picture doesn't do any of it any justice. The damascus is all 512 layer stock. That was a mistake, because there is not enough contrast for something this small. It's 3" closed. I had abalone in it first but I found out that the etchant eats shell faster than the steel. You live and learn.
