Two Bladed Flipper Concept

Hi there, forgive me if this has been discussed before. Earlier today an idea popped into my head of something like a modern Muskrat folding knife. Would it be possible or even at all advantageous to have a modern folding knife with two blades that opened from opposite ends of the handle? My envision is something similar to the Cold Steel Lucky, but even more modern. Blades could run on bearing flippers, with both scales being lockbars, one for each blade. The main problem seems like it would be the thickness for the bearing pivots... If the frame was thick enough to allow for two blades then I do not know if the bearing pivots could be stable or tuned enough for decent flipping action. But if this could be figured out it could possibly, in my opinion, be kind of neat. Especially if each blade had a radically different blade shape/steel/edge pattern. One blade could be a spear point plain edge in M390 for example, and the second could be a partially or fully serrated tanto in a soft 154CM. If both blades were relatively thin, and the frame was a kwaiken or similar equal end pattern, and thin scale material such as titanium could be used, would it be possible? And if it was possible, would it ever be anything useful? Thanks in advance for commenting on my illogical musings, hope everyone has a great day!

I knew I had seen a design like that but just couldn't place it! Yes thank you very much. Follow up, does anyone have any experience with that knife/concept? Is it at all practical for everyday use? And would it be more useful if the blade shapes weren't identical for both blades? It seems like a concept that could be further explored with different materials and thought. Thanks for the quick response and answer to my question!

Not at $750 MSRP! :)

I think a bunch of folks here carry these.

Good gosh! I never saw the price on that one, that is a high price. I wonder if it would be possible to have one be useful, and not a show piece, as described by CRKT.

You would think so. I never understood that one either, and why they didn't come out with a "CRKT-priced" version.

Haha, "CRKT priced version" explains my thoughts perfectly. I would love to see a functional, more workmanlike version of the concept that could provide functional advantages like the multi blades knives of the past did. Thanks for the insight!

Spyderco does a two bladed "modern" folder (though not a flipper), don't they?

A quick search would show you to be correct! The Dyad. This model utilizes the two totally different blade uses, and I think that is very cool. That model has a backlock but I wonder if there are any with frame locks out there. Ideally it could be used as a normal knife without much extra effort or thought to the other blade until it was needed. I had yet to see the Dyad to my recollection, it looks like a neat tool.
