The reason, that I was completely broke at Blade 2005 was that sly old Don Hanson had raked me over the coals with these two blades.
I know that I am weak, but I saw an inspiring bumper sticker today, "Rehab is for quiters", and I am not quite ready to quit just yet.

I may have to rough up Coop a bit on this image. he didn't quite capture all the sizzle of these two spectacular blades. ;)

Great to see these again! As usual Don's work is a pleasure to even see.

Peter is SO right--these knives are smokin'. I'm lucky that the 'sizzle' didn't burn a hole in my table! ;) You guys have to imagine these irridescent hamons changing with the light. I'm lucky to have caught anything.

Peter is a good coach. He had me trying angles and shots that I NEVER would have tried on my own. I stay 'in the box' fairly close. I was as surprised as can be that they actually looked pretty durn good, even if the perspectives weren't 100% true.

Can you tell Peter likes well-made BIG blades... ;)

Oh, I remember these two, JS knives from Blade. Thanks Peter.

Coop you did great, I worked like hell to photo these and capture the hamons and could not, that ivoy handle bowie was a most difficult knife to photograph. :o

Incredible. Both those have subtle unusual features that really mesmerize. The integral is unlike any sort I have seen lately and the Bowie's lines just flow - the ricasso into the handle grooves, the spine of the blade swooping into the top of the handle like that on a semi-skinner, etc. Jason.

That integral is really something. The bowie looks great as well, but I find the integral grabs me just a bit more.

If I had just one of Don's bowies, I would consider myself a very lucky man. That integral is just outstanding.

I got a chance to handle that integral at the ECCKS 3 months before Blade. Lucky for you guys I'm not a bowie collector because I was sorely tempted. It was one of two knives at that show where I truly wished I had more money to spend, and there were lots of excellent knives there.

One of the few makers who's work you recognize instantly..he has brought to his fixed blades that same élan that embodies his delicate folders.
restrained neo classical designs..Ring my Bell everytime
Nice aquisitions Peter..and Hats off Don.

and to Coops defence Peter seems to favor parings of his knives..in this case I think each deserved the solo treatment..:)

I too like the bowie better. :p

Peter, if you ever want to part from that one for a small fee I'm your man.:D

Marcel

They are both terrific, but that big integral really does it for me. Great work Don. Peter - I hate you. :p Okay, I don't really. :o

Well, I don't need to tell you that I think Don makes about the best forged bowie/fixed blade out there, and these 2 are some of the best he's made, the bowie really does it for me, but I still wouldn't mind owning the integral either. :) Congratulations on this and the entire new batch of knives Coop just did for you that you have been posting, great stuff.
