Forged from 1080 high carbon steel and heat treated to Rc 58-60 on the edge with a softer body similar to the way I heat treat a large camp knife or chopper
Hickory handles about 12 inches long (note the curl in handle of the axe on the left)
Head length is about 6 inches with a 2 1/2 to 3 inch cutting edge
They will ship with a simple edge cover made of leather and attached with a leather wrap

Know what you mean, I have had to quit sending blades to Canada and Europe because of customs. The last one was returned to me because there were animal parts in the package ( leather scabbard) and I was liable as a criminal if I ever tried that again????? Too bad, I had some great folks using my knives and axes there.
