These two knives were an experiment because of my ongoing frustration with blade warpage in the final quench. I had been quenching in fast oil until the blades reached about 400 degrees and then quickly moving to my anvil to straighten any warp or twist before the steel became brittle. Sometimes I was quick enough and sometimes not. With these two I quenched in the oil and quickly following up by placing the 400 degree blades between two 150 pound steel plates. It was a great success; I will never warp another blade in the quench again.
