Here's a couple blades I've been working on this week. Both have blades out of recycled steel. I see the larger knife being used in a kitchen. It has a 8 3/4" hand forged saw steel blade, wrought iron fittings and a stabalised birds eye maple handle. The smaller knife has a 4 1/2" blade I forged out of a small old wagon wheel that I'm pretty sure is at least 1050 carbon steel. It was in the old foundation wall that I got wrought iron out of a few weeks ago. I used a piece of deer shin bone for the handle that I processed 3 or 4 years ago. It also has wrought iron fittings. Larger knife is 14 1/2" and the smaller one is 9" overall.

I like those, very nice! I always enjoy seeing what you are making. Thanks for sharing.

What did you stain the bone with, if you don't mind saying?

Its been about 4 years ago since I did the bone. Think I did them with Rite Dye in hot water. I also put them in a vacuum jar with a thinned down mix of poli urathane.

Ray,
The big one is nice, but the little one is OUTSTANDING! Everything just kinda fits together with the little one.

I also like the little one, it is just OUTSTANDING it is absolutely amazing. The hammon line is gorgeous. Great job

Nice job Ray, that big one looks like a great chopper.

Are you ready for Atlanta, the way things are looking, I might need to borrow gas money from you if I'm going to be able to make it.

Beautiful again Ray, I really like them both. You have really got the wrought iron ferrules down to a perfection. Love the deer bone.

Bill, I was going to ask you for help paying for my flight there. I'm leaving for Canada next week to teach that class. Gas is about a buck more per gallon there besides paying for it by the liter. Hope there's a station at the border so we can fill up there before we cross. As tough as it is to cross the border now it wouldn't surprise me if they tax me on the gas I bring in to their country. Hope they don't ask to pull my finger.

As far as being ready for the show I'll have plenty of product. You got your JS knives done yet?
