When I was fifteen years old I took a big piece of cedar and split out the heart wood for a school project. I used it to make a big maul, "Thors Hammer" for mytholgy class. My mom saved it all those years, around Christmas when all the family was together she brought it out.
By the way in case your wondering it's hard as flint.
