But they are "overweight".....28 oz.

A little explanation:

They don't measure weight in pounds and ounces in Nepal. So, despite everyone's best efforts, the weight issue wasn't solved. I think that's why they sent only 2 (instead of the 10 we ordered).

So, Yangdu and Pala have talked it over and have decided to send some weights totaling exactly 24 oz for the kamis to use in a balance.

That means that these 2 Fox Follies are Up For Grabs.

I will give priority to anyone on the prepaid list until midnight tonight, and then it's off to the Yangdu-Ticket-To-Nepal specials table.

One FF has chandan, the other a fancy wood. Both are just as good quality as the first two.

Please email me and not Yangdu (she asked me to take care of it for her.)

Thanks,

Dan

Sorry they wern't with in the weight specified. Even so, someone will be really happy with them. :) BTW what's the asking price?

Heber

Dan,

I'm not on the prepaid list, nor the not paid list. Is there a price set that they would be sold for if it made it to the forums?

$150 shipped

Yes, it's "not to spec" but it's also beefier...:D

There should be different name for the two versions. The 20" 2 pound version and the new one. People are bound to be confused and I want to confuse them even more.

How about the Foxy Folly Paratropper model? :D

FFP. Not to be confused with MFP, the cavity fighting stuff in toothpaste.

Dan, e-mail sent. I have two lined up and would love to get one of these heavier ones.

Thanks,

Norm

I told Dan that there would be no problem at all getting rid of these two heavier ones when he emailed me Saturday evening, that is after we got out of the Sweatlodge.:)
We didn't get started until late and consequently didn't finish until late. I had everyone on the floor, including me.;) Dayum but it was HOT!!!! :o

These are GONE!

Thanks guys - emails sent.

I'm still holding out for Foxy Mini. Or perhaps Mini Foxy.

Wish I had access to a sweat lodge - back in NM had a couple of NAC members who would invite me over when they had a sweat. They were nice to me, though. Didn't take it past eyeball-burning temp.

Dan,

Do think it would be useful to provide Bir Ghorka with a postal scale? I have one that does read out in lbs and ozs - but it is at home right now and I have to check the resolution. I also have a digital one, but it doesn't go over 2 lbs.

I should think Pala could find one in the U.S. before he leaves, but I am willing to give up my mechanical one if it has enough resolution. I can also have it calibrated in the lab where I work.

that's a brilliant idea, but I can hear Bill telling me in the back of my head - "They'll break it....or they'll lose it....or someone will steal and take it home".

:(

If you want, I can still ask Yangdu.

Hey, for that matter, I have two scales that can be donated. One is an old UPS scale (mechanical) - goes up to 70 lbs. Might not be the best for weighing 1-3lb knives, but it is available.

Likewise, I have another, goes up to 70, but is electronic, so would be great for knives. But, it has to be plugged in ..... Probably more of a hassle than its worth.

Wow, think I just talked myself out of my own idea.

There here if there's a need for them. I can ship them out in a heartbeat too.

bamboo

We could chip in and buy them one too, to go along with the watches .. ?

I'm sure they can rig something up with a 24oz weight. Just 2 problems here - we're probably not speaking the right language (do we need to convert to metric?) and the kamis aren't motivated enough. Heck, if Pala promised to pay double or Yangdu swore enough, I'm sure Bura would hammer out a scale that would weigh postage stamps and we'd get tolerances in the thousandths    :D

(Just kidding, a little bit. Nepal may be "third world" but good old ingenuity can get lots of things done. If nothing else, this forum has taught me that!)

Send them an electronic scale? They would need a power converter (unless it's a 220v scale), and a surge protector (very dirty current), and it would onlywork when they had power. I think that's a no-go.

I would say sending them an appropriate counter-weight is probably the best plan.

Thanks Dan,!! :D  :D I will post a review after it arrives. I like 28 oz.
My M-43 and first YCS are in that same ballpark within an oz or two. It is a weight I seem to work well with. Much lighter and I feel lke it is not a khuk. HeeHee ;)

I really wished I'd have had the $$ to stay in on this project as consciensious(sp?) as you guys are being on getting them to get the weight right. There are quite a few really nice khuks I have that are just a tad bit too heavy to be practical. If you all pull this off it could start a whole new trend!

regarding weights...why don't we all bite the bullet and let the Kamis use their local weight system: metric.
Everyone / anyone / any shop keeper or vegetable seller has a set of weights to go with their weighing scale / balance.
We convert our requirements in pounds and ounces into kilos and grams for them.
It ain't rocket science.
One Kilo = 2.2 pounds
One ounce = 28.34 grams

like that....
