In addition to teaching us the "Truckers Hitch, Transport Knot, Waco Hitch, Dolly Hitch, or Wagoneers Hitch (among other names)" Irmani, our trucker, also showed us how he stores his long ropes in the truck. His ropes were in this configuration when he arrived, while I had mine in a doubled over single hand chain. A single hand chain is easier to do but the resulting chain is much longer and takes longer to make.

By using a Two-Handed Rope Chain the rope can be left in a pile or a sack with other ropes and won't tangle. The chain is loose enough to allow the rope to dry easily preserving it's strength. It is very fast once you get the rythem down. He makes it look easy in the video and it is, once you get the hang of it.

neat knot, i have been using the single hand chain, but i tension the slack end under my foot so that it goes about as quicly as in the video.

i will have to try that knot, it looks like it could be easier once you get the hang of it, and you don't have to drag the rope under your foot to do it right.

i think this is the same knot that doc canada just posted a day or two ago...

EDITED to add;
yep here it is. same knot, just done tight to look nice and be more compact:

That´s cool. I hadn´t seen that. I have stored rope in a single chain for years but never thought of it as a lanyard. That makes sense. Mac

No, actually what he's doing is different. I had to watch closely to be sure. Check this: he always has 2 loops, and when he makes a loop, he doesn't draw the next loop through the one he just made. With the Poser braid, once you make a loop, you draw the next-to-be loop through it.

Interesting Mac. I finally had to start downloading youtube thanks to you and others.:( I click on it, then go build a small house, then come back and watch it.:rolleyes: Guess I'll have to upgrade my high speed.

Highspeed opens lots of really good video on YT. There's lots of stuff out there. The BBC puts alot of Ray Mears clips up. Mac
