Ray, I'll take the bloodwood handled knife. It's a beauty!

I'm headed out the door now, I'll contact you later in the day to pay you.

Thank you, TR

I visited Ray today and saw both of these as well as a few others that he has finished this week, both turned out great.

I have five knives from Ray and I have seen dozens and dozens of others (a benefit of living a couple miles from Ray), and there have only been a couple times when I was actually envious. Today the bloodwood Kephart made me envious. It is a real beauty, the wood is much nicer than the picture shows. IMHO, bloodwood is one of the best woods to use for a knife handle. It looks good, and is the only red colored wood that I know of that does not darken significantly with age (which is my primary beef with cocobolo). It is also durable. The Janka hardness is 2900, compared to 1136 for cocobolo, 1720 for blackwood, 2890 for desert ironwood, and 3220 for ebony. That knife is definitely a keeper!

And I should mention that the blades are typical Laconico quality, with a fine edge that should cut very well.

lambertiana,

Looks like I am the lucky future owner of the bloodwood knife. I just happened to be logged on at the right time. I appreciate the additional info you provided regarding the wood and knife.

I'll be camped out at the mailbox waiting for this beauty.

Cheers, TR

Ray,

Bloodwood Kephart knife received!

The finish work is superb. Simple elegance meets functional camp knife.

I'm already struggling with the thought of the first cut with the blade or the first time I drag a fire steel across the spine (I just don't want to scar this beauty).

Thanks for such a finely crafted knife.

TR

Thanks TR. Go ahead and add character to the knife!
