• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

I am moving from town to 15 miles out in the country the first week of August, and am scheduled to be at the International Custom Cutlery Expo in mid September. Since I have to tear my shop down for the move, I decided to go ahead and get all my show knives done before the tear-down, so as not to be in a bind rushing to get the shop back together and knives built before the show. Here are two that I finished this weekend. One is my Spicewood Special model, a knife I've built dozens of, named after the Spicewood, TX community where my great-grandparents ranched and where I've deer hunted my whole life. The blade is 3/32 CPM154CM with nickel silver bolsters and jigged bone. OAL is 7 3/4. This one is thin at 3/8" at the thickest point. The other is a one-off large hunter, 9" OAL. The steel is W2, heat treated with clay for a hamon. The bolsters are mesquite, and the handle is Texas ebony. I figure if I'm going to Kansas, I'd better represent Texas well.
