Hi there,
Full thread in KnifeMakers area:

Here just a picture to tease you a little bit. Thanks for watching,
Mikel

You made those yourself? Dam those are so nice! My compliments, especially the top one. Wow. Your very blessed to have that skill.

I like the look of the bottom one. True, I think your file work betrays it, sorry. Apart from that it looks like a real hard work tradesman's tool that would excel at rope work, whilst also being good for cutting resistant stuff like carpet. That it would also work as a simple machine on wood is the icing on the cake. Looks like a really heavy duty yet practical handful.

That's exactly what I thought after handling the finished knives. Next ones won't have any.... at least that deep! I got somewhat wild with the angle grinder... :D :D

After reading a review about the BRKT Tusk I thought that something with a similar size could come handy for hard work on tough materials. I read somewhere that the TUSK was used in a regular basis for cutting carpet and alike... Somehow this two pieces ended up a tad bigger than the TUSK.

I am trying to get as much feedback as possible so I can make better knives the next time, so don't be shy, any critics are wellcome!

Top one looks great, just my style.

The bottom one as looks good also, but I agree with Baldtaco, completely.

What kind of grind, full convex?

How about a spine shot?

They look fantastic. There's nothing in your workmanship that I would complain about.

I don't really care for the filework, as has been stated.

Also, the handles look a bit wide/thick, if you went a bit deeper with the contouring I think they would be perfect.

For your first few knives, these look amazing, keep it up!

They are full flat grinds with a convex edge. Not having a belt sander I am forced to do all my grinds with files... and that always leads to flat bevels (scandi or full flat with anything in between).

There is plenty of pictures in the thread I linked (KnifeMakers area) but just for you I will post a few spine shots here as well ;). They are 5mm thick (the thinnest leaf spring I could find).

There you go!

Great job, just the deep file work on the bottom one is my only issue.

Mikel !

If that is what you do as a beginner , I can´t wait to see your work in the future ,
they look very good !

PS , you should quit your day job ! :D:thumbup:

I think the handles look pretty good for heavy duty knives, probably will afford comfort and control. As already stated, lose the file work and you have two good looking knives.

I have a bigger one about 95% finished. I just need to polish the handle (contoured ala BRKT Aurora) a bit more and sharpen it. It doesn't have any angle-grinder-work on the spine so I bet you will like it better.
