Very nice,Dan, my friend! I rarely come to this forum anymore as it is too time consuming to find anything referring to sheaths. I have suggested a sub forum on sheaths before but it fell on deaf ears. I guess that they do not consider a sheath as part of the parcel!! Sandy

Those are great sheaths Dan. If I understand this correctly the part that webs the two straps together (looks like an I) is the belt loop. It looks to me like this desighn gives the option of vertical or horizontal carry.
I have made half pouch sheaths with a keeper strap rap but this is awsome intergration.

Very nice sheaths Dan  I'm curious as to how your sheaths are stitched. Do you hand stitch or machine stitch ? I've been on the look out for a good deal on a tippman boss for at least 6-8 months. As my sheath making skills increase I'm finding that my hand stitching is getting better (and faster), just wondering about your thoughts on the subject. Machine or hand stitch ?

Very nice work Dan. Thats a great belt attachment system!

Hi Sandy
I hear you, we don't see chuck a lot anymore either? I don't get on like I use to either.. just no time it's seams any more.. good to hear from you Friend..

Dave, I hand stitch. I bought two used shoe shop machines some time ago and never have used them yet, the timing or something is wrong with one of them.... I'm still thinking about getting them working though :D just my marbles reproduction sheaths do I have machine stitched, I get Chris Kravitt to do that for me on those ones he's not to far off the beaten trail from me...

Will, I have a tut somewhere on how to braid leather, more of a picture showing how,, I'll have to figure out where I put it  if you want it let me know.. how's the rigging going?

(looks like an I) is the belt loop
yes this is meant to be carried vertical and high on the belt
you could wear it horizontally I guess with a thin belt and in small of the back.
anywhere else I think would pull to much at the ends of the ( I ) a little more anchoring down might make it ok for that too..

I'd like to take credit for this type of set up because I've never seen it before but I've been told since I started making these years ago
there is a name for it.. though still I have yet seen it elsewhere.

Matt how you coming with that knife project? I still have a ruby with your name on it here :D

thanks Guys

Padrig--I can not say that administration turned it down, it might never have come to thier attention. Some of the forumites were rather adamant that it was not needed on Blade Forums and it seemed to die right there. I have no idea if they even made knives for that matter. The sub forum seems to go well elsewhere, though.

Hi Buddy
I sent you an email around Christmas. Not sure if you got or not. Been looking for a nice piece of fresh walrus ivory for it. Not sure where to find it. I've emailed a few places without response. What do you think about sea cow bone??? I just can't make myself slap a hunk of wood on this one, no matter how nice it might be....Looking for something nicer and more unique.

http://www.knivesby.com/dan-sheath-tutor-1.html
or maybe you have, dang that page has been hit almost 28,000 times:eek:
though this one is one of my reg Pouch sheaths that just looks like my M#A above it doesn't have the functionality of the M#A which the lower part of the strap setup un-snaps so you can take it off your belt with out unbuckling your belt.
