Started on two with the new grinder today. Mocked them up with some 1/4” plywood first to get a feel for the handle shapes.

The kwaiken is about 7” overall with a 3” blade the wharncliffe is 6 1/2” overall

Got them cut out and profiled in 440c but forgot to take pictures of the steel

Good thinking.I always cut stuff out of hardboard to get a feel first. Much better than wasting steel. You can also keep them as templates for future knives

I have made my fair share of kwaikens so here is a piece of advice, get rid of that point on the butt.

The reason people put a point on the butt is because they do not understand how the Kwaiken is used.

They typically have shorter handles and when used to thrust the butt of the knife goes into the palm of your hand. This prevents the hand slipping forward and cutting your fingers off.
