Guess the caliber...

Looks almost too big to be a .45 Long Colt, but then it's been a long time since I handled one.

Looks too short for a .44 Russian.

It doesn't look fat enough to be one of those 50's from a Spencer repeater.

Carl.

Looks a little on the fat side, I'm goin with a .500 S&W Special.

Close...It looks deceptively small. Here is a shot next to a .454. Better perspective.

.475 Linebaugh? Too Short for a 500 magnum methinks. But man it looks like it's in the .50 range.

.50 Beowolf is all I got left.
Disregard that, beowolf is a rebated rim. Can't be it.
.500 Linebaugh? Never seen one of those, might be way off.

you are correct! .500 Linebaugh! One of my top 3 all time favorite calibers and my go-to when in bear country. I have one of Johns Ruger Bisely conversion, his 101st. The pictured round is 470gr. and leaves the 5 1/5 in barrel at a tad over 1260 FPS.

Interesting side note. The bullet in the case is sized a .513, which is actually .001 larger than a 50BMG. The gun just likes the bigger bullet.!

That's a thumper. I've been itching for one of his Bisley Makeovers. Not sure if I'd really want to go more than .45 Colt.

How about some pics of the Bisley? With a traditional knife of course!

Over an ounce of lead traveling 1260fps in a 5 1/5" barrel? That is impressive.
