While patching up the handle on my 30" Sirupati, after filling the crack in the handle, I noticed the part behind the back ring of the handle had a gap all around it. It was made from two pieces of horn matched up nicely, and only time and shrinkage in the desert air dried it up enough to show. I've forced as much glue as I could get in the crack a couple of times. This next time should do it.

Anyway, have any of you with supersized khuks noticed your horn handles being two parts? If so, get regular superglue and keep filling it up then finish off with a tube of superglue gel and detail the thing out using like a diamond nail file.

That it was made in two pieces doesn't bother me. But because I didn't know, I didn't find the separation until it was pretty advanced. Maybe mine is the only one made that way, though I kind of doubt it. This is probably horn handles only.

Just wanted to pass on a heads up to you to check out that area every now and then so you can catch it before it gets bad.

and it looks to be one piece, unless the kamis somehow lined up the grainlines and subtle color veins perfectly with another piece.

Curoius--who was the kami? Do you wish not to say?

Now, my AK bowie has a two piece handle;)

Re: Kami, believe it was a shop I endeavor, so can't say as not marked.

I think that's an exception. I like two parters of different material, especially a nice wood and bone combo.
