I re-shaped two of my FRN spydercos recently to better fit my hands. Here's the result. Put a choil on my Endura 3 (Always used that area as one anyways) and rounded off the Native's handle. Thinking about removing the small hump that's left and making it straight.

Vivi,

You did there a nice work. I like the idea to fit a knife to my needs. What tool did you use? Any particular precaution?

Very nice job. I went the other way with the Native I occasionally carry. Wrapped some sandpaper around a good sized dowel and deepened the front finger well to allow full access to the Spyderhole when the knife is closed. Dantzk8, reshaping FRN is easy, the only caveat is to do it by hand - no power tools - they generate too much heat from friction and will cause the nylon to melt and gum up the sandpaper or stone. A sanding block and several grits of sandpaper are all you need.

I did what Deacon described. I used a piece of leftover griptape from a skateboard and whenever I finish the shapes I'll use a higher grit to smooth it out and round off the corners some more.

Paul, Vivi,

Thanks a lot, sandpaper, no power tool, i will remember.

Vivi,

That's nice. I would love to see a pic of the Native closed. You did a really nice job.

Thanks for the compliments. I'll take a closed shot of the Native and some in-hand photos of each later today.

That's how I always said a Native should look like! (and in full flat grind) :D
Great job Vivi, thanks for sharing.

I recently did what Vivi did to one of my Natives, that is I rounded off the Native's handle.
It looked very much like Vivi's picture.
Then I went further and totally removed the remaining hump, making the handle straight, just as Vivi has mentioned.
The Native handle now resembles the handle on my Spyderco Goddard folder (micarta, large), and it works great like this.
The original Native handle is very good, and my modification makes it even better for me.
I'm going to do this mod to my other two Natives as well.
I used a file and sandpaper, either will do a good job.
Hurray.
