Here are a couple of carry knives I've made out of a vintage 10 inch table saw blade. I don't know exactly what the steel is but if I were a betting man I'd say it was L6, if not then it's certainly something equally as good. After the blade is cut and ground I differentially heat treat so that the edge is kept good and hard, around 58 to 60 Rc with a more springy spine in the low 50s. The blade patina on both these knives is produced with mustard. The handle is full tang with the wood scales bolted down (no pins here) for maximum strength. I've adopted a saw blade knife like one of these as my personal carry knife and really like it. I do all my own leather work and use my knife to cut lots of leather and it goes though like butter and keep a good edge. The knife comes with a tooled leather sheath.
