1) A great survivor of the battle with time, neglect and deterioration....and
fittingly so.....

An inspiring book studiously documenting the colonial period and the
Revolution, beautifully embossed and with gilded detail. Hardcover,
in remarkably-good condition for the age. Just a bit of wear on corners
and ends of the binding. Very sound.

By Edward Walker, published in N.Y. in 1849. 500+ pages.

Entitled 'SEVENTEEN HUNDRED SEVENTY SIX or the
War of Independence'

Illustrated with many engravings.

- 9 3/8" x 6 1/4" x 1 5/8" , hardcover

A fine piece of American history.

2) 'THE STORY OF OUR COUNTRY' - 1876, by Mrs. Lewis B. Monroe , published
in Boston by Lockwood, Brooks and Company. I believe this was actually a book
used in schools, upper grades. Imagine....... Rather certainly created and
published for the Centennial year {during which, for those who aren't aware,
there was considerable heartfelt, meaningful celebration, as there was then a
People who understood and appreciated what they had..........}.

5 1/8" x 8" x 13/16" , hardcover. Relief detail and embossing. Very-sound
condition.

Note the quote on the top of front cover: " Freedom's battle once begun, Tho'
battled oft, is never won'.
