The Hawk Recon (Model No. HR-50) was an early serial-numbered production from TOPS Knives and was discontinued around 20 years ago. Designed as a combat knife, it came with a tanto-style point or a clip point (“Hunter's Point” in TOPS lingo). I have one of each up for sale.
Each knife measures about 11-¼ inches in overall length with a black traction-coated blade of 1095 carbon steel approximately 6-⅜ inches long and ¼-inch thick. Each is a full tang knife with an integral single guard, thumb ramp, a “stepped”spine, an extended tang with lanyard hole and black-and-gray camo Micarta scales. The blade and spine area include cut-outs, presumably to facilitate lashing for use as a spear. On each knife, one scale is marked with“TOPS RECON” over the TOPS logo and the serial number of the knife (“G-596” for the tanto point and “G-578” for the clip point).
Each knife comes with its original black nylon sheath with plastic insert, two paracord lanyards, its original packaging and its Certificate of Manufacture and Authenticity from 2005 (see photos). Each knife is unused and in very fine new old stock condition, with its original factory edge, all of its original finish and remnants of the original factory grease that I have left alone (see photos). The sheaths are also in very fine new old stock condition, with no apparent signs of use, wear or carry (see photos).
