Here are a couple I just got done.
Steel is 1084 handles are bone and Sambar stag, pins are nickle silver.
Let me know what you think...good or bad.

I absofreaking love them! Saved picture to my phone! I've never used either material. The bottom one was a pain to pin I bet. Also, how does the sheath work? Just curious.

Looks like they would be comfortable to carry and use. I really like the shape. Flows nicely from blade to handle. I like em.

Mace I really like the flow, great lines on the knives. My only concern is how they feel in the hand. The handle material looks like it could come a little closer to the plunge to add comfort to the forefinger, cant tell without holding(using) it. Love the stag, great piece.

Nice work Mace

I love the "forge" finish.

Just curious, is the top knife handled with what is known as Amber Stag ?

Whatever it is, it looks great :)

Mace, I got to say I like how those look! The knives and sheaths are superb work. I agree with Mike, I might have carried the handle slightly closer to transition point from handle to blade, (since these knives do not have a bolster), but I also agree this is one of those things you can’t really tell without physically handling the knife.

I do have a question though. How in the world did you get the polished look on the blade and then make that transition into the handle, with the aged look? I love how that turned out.
The aged look area is too perfect to have been sanded in, either that or you were extremely careful in the sanding process. I have tried such a thing and one slip of the paper screws up the perfect job. Was the area coated with something after sanding? Inquiring minds want to know! However you did and whether you want to share or not it is a great effect.

"Two WHAT?" - Judge from My Cousin Vinny after Vinny says "two utes".

Those Utes look great, Mace.

Mace, I REALLY like those. I can almost feel them in my hand... nice profile... great finish!

I like the "My Cousin, Vinny." title, too.... lol.

I can only speak for myself but carefull sanding is the key. Minor "scuffs" in the rough area can be touched up with cold bluing solution. I sometimes go over the rough area "lightly" with some 2000 grit paper to bring out textural highlights.

If I had to be critical... it would be toward the pic itself.... do a little "tuning" would ya?...

I like those a lot Mace. The lines, combination of finishes and simple classic handles combine to make some really nice users.

...all these small knives...

I think you're starting to go Spangler on me. Next thing I know you'll be making chisel ground kiridashis.

Love the stag.

Thanks for the comments fellas.

Rick, That was the picture I wanted.

Regarding the transition from clean sanded steel to the rough forged...

First thing is I start to set it up when I'm forging...making sure to keep hammer blows where I want them and more important where I don't want them. Before I'm done with the forging I clean things up with a flatter.
Taking the knife to the grinder you need to be VERY carefull not to grind up into that area. Sanding really isnt that bad, just need to make sure to stay off that area.
The hard transition is the one you dont see...the one under the handle.
Trying to get the tang flat without getting into the forged area in front of the handle is tricky.

As for the scales not comming farther up....well....if my scales were longer they would have.:D
Not much of an issue as these blades are very thick at that finger groove.

The sheaths(right handed) are made to be carried on your right side with the handle foward...blade edge down.

Thanks again for checking them out.
"utes, yea...the two utes over hea!"

Karl, Who the hell is Vinny?

Mace! you ROCK. These utes are great. They're slick, rugged, nasty and pretty all at the same time. Kinda like you actually minus the pretty part :p
