Hello everyone! I have two of my Verde Ranch Hunters availalbe, both quite unique. I've priced them pretty competitively, I hope someone jumps on these quick!
First knife is in my favorite carbon steel, Crucible's Cru Forge V. If you're not familiar, it is an exceptional carbon steel being that has vanadium carbide to give added wear resistance over a standard 1% carbon steel. It has the wear resistance of steels in the Super Blue category. The heat treatment, as always, got all the bells and whistles, including normalizing/cycling/DET anneal, fast oil quench, "cryo", and triple tempers for a final Rockwell C hardness of 65! I etched the blade to give it a dark look, and upon close inspection you can make out the alloy banding. The handle is jade g10 with white liners, and I think the dark blade/tang and Ghost Busters Slimer colored handle make an awesome looking knife. The grind is full flat, down to a thin edge for very nice cutting and slicing. I sharpened on a 1000 ceramic, 3000 ceramic, 6000 ceramic, and then stropped on 0.3 micron lapping film. You can literally take off a single fingerprint ridge of your choosing. But don't stare at the edge, she don't like it, and will cut you just by looking too much! Bandaid included with purchase! I am down to my last few knives with CFV, and it will be a sad day in this shop when that last knife is made. This is an all around user. Game processing, kitchen work, EDC, this one has you covered. Comes with a custom made kydex sheath as well! (Photos do not do this knife justic at all. Looks so much better in hand. The green is, well, greenier? Greenyer? More green?)
OAL: 8 3/4"
Blade: 4 1/8"
Handle: 4 5/8" Jade G10 white liners
Thickness: 0.110"
Steel: Crucible Cru Forge V with "cryo" 65HRC!!
Edge: 15° per side, 0.3 micron
Price: sold (includes kydex sheath)

Second knife is also quite unique. I found a piece of old hard rubber at the ranch in the shed that has since burned down and thought it might make a pretty good handle material, especially on a hunting knife. The rubber did not disappoint! It feels amazing in the hand, and even coated in oil it has a great super super tacky feel to it. I have a hard time putting it down whenever I fidget with it, it feels so good. The steel is Crucible D-2, not some no name brand steel. It has a higher vanadium % than most D-2 out there, and the alloy % tolerances are quite tight. It responds very well in heat treatment. The Tool Steels handbook showed that a pre-quench with D-2 will greatly reduce the grain size, so as per the delta heat treat protocol I gave it a pre-quench. After "cryo" and triple tempers, the hardness is 63HRC, perfect for D-2. I love this steel. It has a LOT of wear resistance, but can be sharpened on quality stones without problem being that the carbide is vanadium enriched chromium carbide. I had just enough rubber left over for one more knife, and when my Dad felt this he put his claim on a knife with this rubber! D-2 had a reputation back in the day that it "takes a crappy edge and holds it forever". That was before diamond and hard ceramic stones became popular. Nowadays D-2 "takes an excellent edge and holds it forever"! Another benefit of the delta heat treatment is that we take care of unwanted retained austenite with a "cryo" bath right after quench and then use the lower temperature range during tempering. This modified heat treatment gives D-2 much better apex stability as well as being considerably more corrosion resistant over the industry standard protocol. Blade has a full flat grind down to one of the thinnest edges you'll see on a D-2 hunter. I love this pattern, I LOVE the rubber handle, I love D-2, and I think you will really enjoy this piece in your hunting bag or the kitchen knife block.
OAL: 8 3/4"
Blade: 4 1/8"
Handle: 4 5/8" Hard rubber
Thickness: 0.065"
Steel: Crucible D2 63HRC with "cryo"
Edge: 15° per side, 4 micron
Price: sold (includes kydex sheath)

Paypall preferred (samuraistuart@yahoo.com). All knives come with free shipping in the USA as well as a lifetime unconditional warranty. Something goes wrong, the knife gets repaired or replaced. I ask that the buyer be aware that most all of my knives are cutting tools and are made only for their intended use. I like to make thin, hard knives that excel at cutting and not necessarily able to take abuse. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me here or contact me by email (samuraistuart@yahoo.com).
