Type Of Adhesive For Gold Foil On Tortoise Shell?

I've done a bit of searching and I can't seem to find any solid recommendations for what type of adhesive to use to bond (24K) gold foil to genuine tortoise shell. Any help would be appreciated.

Use the adhesive "size" used for doing gold leaf. The brand I have (IIRC) is Old World Art. You should find it at most larger craft stores along with other leafing supplies. Once the gilding is applied, I would suggest you coat the back of the piece with a gold leafing "backing"shellac, a black paint, or gold paint. This will protect the thin foil from damage and tarnishing.
