Hi ya all well i read some of my new book and got to the file part and have a few questions. I did a good semaritan deed 7 years ago and snow blowed a ladys drive way several times over the coarse of the winter and she payed me by allowing me to have some tools and some wood oak and maple. She told me take what ever you want my kids dont want any of these tools . Her husband who passed awat was a millwright and her son picked over the real good stuff but left alot of what i now shoulda took . I did take a few easy out sets up to 3/4 inch diameter 20 saber saw blades 20 files yup and a few taps there was a big set she said i could have but i had no use for a set of tap and die up to 1 inch lmao probably worth alot dont tell me. any how the files are in excellent to new shape a few have some slight rust so i have sprayed them with WD40 and let um soak oh ya a huge punch and chizle set of 30 i forgot to mention. The Files are these 2 brands BLACK DIAMONd AND NICKOLSON both Made in Canada . Are they good quality the types i have are square ,bastard , smooth, triangular, and round. I have a feeling some may be wood files like the large round one but im not sure and a sqware one. I do have several sizes of each and i bought a mini set like jewlers files the other day .Oh i also have some real tiny pointed but oval shaped ones very small and only a small area has the file on it. I could use a lesson on files. Thanks kellyw

I forgot to mention ide like to know the best way to clean a file they are soaking in wd40 . thanks

There's a good amount of reference material on the Nicholson web site. Do a search to locate their web site, then look for PDF downloads.

I've only heard good things about Black Diamond, but I've had a lot of Nicholsons and never met one I didn't like.

That's a heck of a score friend. If you have too many, send a few files this way :D

best way to clean a file is a file card- a wire brish works fine, just brush the crud out.

i'd be wary of soaking them in WD40 but i've never tried it, it might help to loosen off all the crud, or it might help to stick new stuff in there

thanks ill go to the web site james good idea and thanks guys. Nathan ill look into getting a file card. im sure they cant be to much money i spent a grand last month buying stuff. I will have to wait for another month to buy a good grinder lmao
