Hey guys, I wanted to know the types of pivot systems in folding knives. I may be wrong but I think 2 of them are washers and bearings. Am I right or would that be in a different category. Either way can someone tell me the rest of the pivot types and maybe even the opening mechanism types?

Thanks guys,

Washers and ball/rolling bearings. I've seen both Phosphor Bronze and Ceramic washer. Bearings can be caged or loose, steel or ceramic.

Sometimes nothing between blade and handle as mentioned above.

Great, thanks guys. I'm glad to see this thread hasn't devolved into name calling and hate like so many others on this damn website.

That's an odd thing to say.

What threads are you talking about?

You know you can report that kinda stuff if you encounter it.

You should see my thread asking what a gear queer was, marcinek, I've got 3 people attacking me just because I defended myself when someone made fun of me when I said I have some minor knife skills. Some are defending me but still it's sad to see all this anger. I don't really like ratting but if it keeps up I just might say something it's unhealthy for the site.

This. The rules are taken very seriously around here. Almost to a fault IMO, but it's better than a lot of the nonsense that goes on in other forums.
