I saw the thread for the passaround of the Breeden tyson bushcraft...

I REALLY like the looks of this knife, but I have a couple of questions: Where can I get it? (directly from Bryan Breeden, I assume, but how does one do this?:o) Question two: Does it come in a drop or spear point? I really like the point to be centered over the handle...

Thanks.

Email him, he is extremely easy to work with. He will put what ever blade shape you want on the knife, as well as handle length, shape, material, etc.

It comes standard with a drop point.

Thanks, guys. I've contacted Bryan, now to come up with some money....:(

I've never dealt with O1 tool steel. A quick rundown on the properties?

I just got a Breeden PSKKII. It's my new backpacking blade and I really love it. Wicked sharp.
O1 is my new favorite steel. Had it on a Laconico knife and was mad impressed with it. Its a high quality tool steel, hence not stainless. It patinas very quickly, but that adds character. Was easy for me to sharpen and is lauded for its high wear resistance.

Impressed with Bryan's design and execution on knives shown here, I contacted him some time back about making me a knife according to my own specs. After some discussion, I sent him the handle wood (amboyna burl) which I picked out and a template I had cut from aluminum flashing. He then cut and ground the blade and sent it to another maker of my choice to have the fileworked thumb groves put on the spine. When it was returned to him, he finished and handled the knife and got it off to me in no time. I was skeptical about having it made from O-1, but Bryan was correct, his favorite steel is a good steel. It seems to be harder than my own favorite, traditional 1095HC, but the knife he made for me is near flawless in execution, a faithful rendition of my design idea (a modern rendition of Marble's 1902 "Dall DeWeese) and so far proving to be a very usable knife. Deer season is just getting under way here and both this knife and the Gabon Ebony handled "Fiddleback Nessmuk" will get a workout, I promise.

If you talk to Bryan about it I'm sure he'd do one of these in a drop or spear point. He's very good about working with people on little things like that, I've found.

O1 is a good steel, very tough and holds an edge well. As has been said, it can corrode pretty easy so keep it clean or get a patina on it. I've never had problems with it in that regard.

Hi all,
Thanks for all the kind comments.
I did get a e-mail form Frostyfingers.

Thanks again all,

Bryan
