U.S. to ban flame sources aboard airliners

So in the article they say that detectablility isn't a prerequisite for banning something and go on to say that the hope is that this ban will encourage people to call out if they see someone attempting to make fire. Wouldn't that happen anyway? Do they really think banning matches is going to make it more likely that someone will call attention to the guy trying to set his hat on fire? Afterall Richard Reed did get a little tiny bit of media exposure and since we are a non-smoking flying public making fire on an airplane isn't exactly an inconspicuos activity.

Arghh, one more reason to drag travelers into little rooms and search there cavities.
