Here's an 18 inch, 1.75 pound UBE. Good knife but not marked by kami who made it. Looks a little like Sanu. There's about 1 cent worth of very minor rust damage on the blade. Very nice karda and chakma.

The scabbard is nicely made and tooled by the sarki with no name but there's a serious problem with it. I can't get the blade back into it and I'm not sure why. For some reason the sarki stuck a piece of cardboard down into the scabbard. Don't ask me why. Both kamis and sarkis will do very strange things from time to time. But I think either this cardboard is keeping the blade out or somehow is the answer to the mystery of why the blade won't fit back into a scabbard I pulled it out of with no problem.

So that's the story. I'll send the scabbard along separately and maybe you can solve the mystery. If all fails you can ask Terry Sisco to make a scabbard for you. He'll do it for less than you are saving on this rig.

So for no kami mark, 1 cent worth of rust, and the mystery scabbard you save $75.

I have been wanting one of these ever since I saw Finn's.
And Finn is Exactly Right when he says,
"The UBE makes one helluva Big Cat Knife!!!!"

Besides doing anything else a feller might ask of it.:D

I think I have seen one at Terry's place once and not handleing it much I just wasn't that impressed with it. Actually thought it was sorta ugly.:o
But......
Finn's UBE is the 1st one I've got to handle for a little while and it completely changed my mind about the UBE up to the point where I no longer think they're ugly.:)
Besides Finn telling me what this khukuri would do and what he had actually done.
Well one of these days soon I may just have one in my grasp.:D

But the problem is that I won't have it as soon as I would've liked,:( but it will be waiting for me when we return home from Pennsylvania.:)

I gotta admit, when I first saw these I said the same thing--UGLY! But after seeing a few, I kinda like 'em:)

I'll be real interested to hear what you think of this knife. I can't say enough good things about the one I have.

One thing I found (I wonder if you'll agree) is that it takes all the technique out of using it. The whole edge is one big sweet-spot.

I got mine fairly sharp (about as sharp as I can), but this knife deserves the kind of edge you can put on it.

An unbelievable knife.

Think of Audrey as dagger to BAS/WW2 ( main gauche ) to my tarwar ( rapier ) or tanto to wakizashi to katana.

Should not be too long before I've a couple of dirks with 15" and 17" blades.

Besides, you aren't supposed to see it coming ( til after it's WAY to late ) anyway.
 
The stinker (Yvsa)! I just talked to him last night and he didn't say anything about his "new UBE". I quess he was going to surprise me with it. It's always nice to see a new convert - especially a stubborn old cob like Yvsa.
